Chapter 42
(Y/n's POV)
I opened my eyes slowly. The prolonged darkness finally came to an end. And the end was just the beginning of something else. I was finally given a chance to get out of the dark world and sight the light once again. I shut and opened my eyes fewer times to let go of the dizziness that I was feeling. Everything felt strange, unusual. It was like as if I had woke up from a long hibernation.
The effect of chloroform still lingered with me. My eyelids felt heavier. The curtains wanted to fall and make me sink in the abyss again, where it was all pitch black. Nothing but black. Totally empty, cold and silent, screaming the word "fear." Where you can't feel anything, see anything or think anything. Where everything works differently, and you feel scared. After all, it's our natural instinct to get scared of anything that's unusual.
Hence, no matter how hard it was I tried my best to keep my eyes open to prevent myself from falling in that dark abyss again.
I took a look around and found myself in an unfamiliar place with some unfamiliar figures. The room was large where everything was made of concrete. Concrete walls, concrete floors, few worn out chairs and no window. The only source of light was the high power fluorescent bulb hanging from the ceiling which only lightened the middle part of the room. It looked more like a room where police takes criminal for remand. The environment was not good at all as the place was hot and muggy, with an unpleasant odor of alcohol.
Meanwhile, I tried recollecting the past. I was not feeling okay since morning. I went to the mart. I saw Hoseok and Jihyun. Then I got to know Jimin was missing. So, I went to his place. There I met a group of unknown people. Then I was kidnapped by them. The last memory before losing my sense flashed in front of my eyes once again, and somehow they made me crippled out in fear.
I tried moving my limbs only to discover my hands were tied behind with a rope. Same goes for the legs. I was leaning against the wall in a corner, sitting on the dusty floor. I tried moving my body with all my might, though it was no help. I had my limitations and I was helpless.
Suddenly I saw a shadowy figure coming towards me, out of the darkness, followed by two other shadows. I narrowed down my eyes to get a visibly clear view. It was a male in the front, accompanied by two other males who were dressed in same black suits and black glasses from before. The man in front was kinda old. I guessed his age would be somewhere between 50 to 60. Dressed like a rich man, fingers full with different metal rings, grayish hair politely styled in the back. His appearance was revealing his status and position or more clearly, his aristocracy, too well.
He had a dangerous look on his eyes. He looked cold as ice, pale as white, as if the blood inside him had been absorbed long ago. Smile of Satan was being played on his dark lips repeatedly. His eyes were fixed at me and that glare sent sudden chills to my body.
He walked closer, pulled a chair and sat down. "Hello, young lady." He grinned, evilly. I couldn't get his intention. But one thing's for sure, he didn't feel like a good person. I brought my legs closer to my chest, keeping myself as distant as possible. "What's your name?" He asked. I remained silent, kept observing him from head to toe, trying to understand him. After few moments, he said, "I asked your name."
I looked at him once before replying, "K-Kim Y/n." He leaned back, linked the fingertips of both hands and mumbled my name closing his eyes. Few moments later, he opened his eyes and questioned, "What's your connection with him?" He pointed at a human figure, lying on the cold, hard concrete floor in the other corner of the room. My eyes darted past his shoulders. The moment I spotted the figure, my mouth went wide open. My stomach twirled. I could not utter a single word.
