Chapter 31
I was standing in front of the entrance of the sea port. Light wind was blowing gently. It was little after afternoon, but there was more time left for the sun to go back home. The shops of the market already lit up the lights and that created a different scenario. The place was full of people and hustle as always.
I asked Minjoong to send me a photo of the location of the device including map. I looked at the map and sighed. I was never really good at finding a place using map. But I had to do it, I couldn't give up at that point. I tried to cheer myself up, and walked inside.
Almost 30 minutes flew away but I still couldn't find the place. Negative thoughts came in my mind. I had started doubting if she was still in that place. Or did she leave?
I looked at the map once again but nothing was getting into my head. My head felt empty to be honest. I looked around like a lost kid and started walking again. Few minutes later I came to a place which seemed familiar. The same narrow lane where I had lost her last time. I felt surprised.
I slowly walked forward, thrills shivering down my spine. The place didn't change, not at all, dark and dirty just like the last time I had seen. I looked around. No one was around. My eyes scanned the dark red walls. I walked deeper and deeper. The front was blocked with a strong wall. Everything was same. Except one thing that caught my eyes.
I stopped walking. I was looking at the wall which was on the right side of the lane. It was looking a bit weird. Something was odd about that. Suddenly a logic came into my mind and I felt shocked that left my eyes widened. It's a hidden door.
I was getting thrills in every passing minutes. I stretched out my hand forward and kept it on the wall. It was typical brick wall painted in dark red. Then I slightly shifted my hand on the left side and felt the difference. It was not something made of brick. It was thinner, lighter, and the surface was much smoother. It was perfectly painted in dark red, matched with the color of the wall so that no one recognizes it at the first place. What an idea!
It was suspicious. I took few steps back and looked at the whole wall. Something was definitely wrong happening inside which others shouldn't know about. That's why someone hid it like this. Since there wasn't any shops around, the lane is always quiet and empty. A perfect place for illegal business indeed. Unfortunately it couldn't fool me. Gotcha!
I lightly tapped the surface with my fingers, then knocked it twice. Maybe it was a wooden board or something. I examined it from top to bottom, with a view to finding a way to open it. But it seemed like it was completely sealed from other side. I tried to push it fewer times but that was useless. I glanced around to find another way to go inside but nothing caught my attention. But my eyes fell on the wall which was standing at the end of the lane. What is behind the wall?
I walked near the wall. It wasn't that high. Some wooden crates were piled up at a corner. I bit my lips. 'Plan B' formed in my mind and I decided to apply that. I moved the crates near the wall, rearranged them and turned into something that would do the work of ladder. I got up onto it. The wall wasn't too high from that level. I hooked my leg with one of the brick of the wall and hoisted myself up. Climbing up to the wall was way much easier than I had thought. I jumped off on the opposite side and hit the ground with much force. I considered myself as a lucky person cause I didn't sprain my ankle or something.
That was exactly the back side of the port, completely isolated from the main part and the market also. My eyes got fixed on the building in which I wanted to get into. I searched around for a door, but didn't find any. Rather I found a window. It couldn't be call a window actually. There was no glass there and even the wall wasn't properly built. Wasting no more time, I got inside through it. It was an unfinished building, where they only built the foundation. Looked like the construction had stopped long ago for some reasons and it was unused since then. Well, not completely unused.
