Kara's POV
Ty had a girlfriend, a silver elf girlfriend. I never would have guessed that. I guess it was good that he went with Xavier that one day to get the aura potion.
Thia had left my room about an hour ago and this new information was still swirling through my head. I laid in bed and was just staring up at the ceiling.
I realized the only single person now is Levi...that's awkward. He'll eventually find someone right?
I swing my legs off the edge of the bed and head to the bathroom to get ready for bed.
Just as I finish brushing my teeth, I hear a muffled cry of pain. It wasn't a cry like someone was being hurt. It was more like a frustrated cry into a pillow.
I stick my head out the bathroom door and look down the hall. Thia was doing the same thing. She looks at me with a sad expression.
In a quiet voice, she says, "Evan."
That was all that needed to be said. Thia goes back into her room and closes the door. I stroll out of the bathroom and over to Evan's closed door. I hear things being shuffled around inside.
I lightly knock. "Evan?"
The sound of movement stops. He definitely heard me.
"Evan, are you okay?" I ask just loud enough for him to hear me though the door.
"Go away."
"Evan, come on..."
"Go away, Kara." His voice cracks.
He's upset about something. Do I dare...?
I slowly grasp the doorknob and turn it. No lock. I cautiously push it open and peer inside.
Darkness was the first thing I see. The curtains were closed and his lamp was switched off. No light anywhere. Nothing.
I silently close the door behind me. My eyes soon adjust and I see the real mess.
Clothes covered the ground and the sheets on his bed were thrown everywhere along with the pillows. Evan, wearing only a pair of sweatpants, sat on the edge of his bare bed with his head hanging down.
"I told you to go away." He says in a dark voice.
I ignore his comment and make my way across the room to where his lamp stood. I flick it on before cautiously approaching Evan. The lamp cast shadows across the room, making it seem ominous and mysterious.
In a quiet voice, I say, "Evan..."
"Didn't you hear what I said?" He says in a barely audible voice. Then, in a sudden fury, he springs up to loom over me. "Don't you get that I just want to be alone! Why can't I be left in peace?! I don't want you!"
I stiffen my posture. That last sentence stung.
I lift my chin and look at him straight in the eyes. I could immediately see regret.
"Kara I didn't-"
I cut him off. "My mistake. Sorry for bothering you."
He opens his mouth to try to say something else but I stalk out of the room with my chin held high. I knew he wasn't going to follow me.
I slam the door to my room. I try to be concerned for him and he pushes me away. He was upset and I was going to try to help him fix whatever was wrong. I know he's still trying to open up to me but at some point he has to. This can't go on forever.
I flop on my back onto my bed. Guys are so complicated.
*****
I lay in bed for an extra hour after I wake up. I was not in the mood to do anything today. Eventually, I roll out of bed and head downstairs.
