We get into our starting positions. For the record, I have no idea what Xavier is capable of as far as powers go.
"Fight!" Thia calls out.
We start out slow circle around each other, waiting for someone to make the first move. It certainly wasn't going to be me. I learned to never lunge at your opponent first because that means you will be unbalamced and vulnerable. It seemed like Xavier knew that too.
This fight was a slight disadvantage for me because Xavier has seen me fight but I haven't seen him. He knew what my first instinct was in a fight, what I did first. I had no idea how Xavier fights.
Our circling was taking too long. I guess I'm going to have to make the first move but I'm not going to fully attack him. Not yet.
I flap my wings and lift myself a few feet of the ground. Xavier follows my every move. I swoop at him but make sure to stay out of arms reach. He ducks.
I quickly drop to the ground and slice my knife through the air, missing his shoulder by centimeters. He catches my arm and twists it. I jump into the air, untwist it, and make his back hit the ground in one swift move. He swings his body around and collides his legs with my ankles, sending me to the ground as well.
We continue our moves and countermoves for a while, trying to gain a big enough advantage over the other. I could see this would go on for a long time if something didn't change. I decide to switch tactics.
I extend my wings and fly up to the treetops so Xavier could no longer see me. I fly around the trees for a short period of time, trying to get him to become anxious.
Then, I perch myself on a high branch, too high to be spotted by Xavier but low enough that I could barely see the ground. I could see Thia with a smirk on her face. Was Xavier planning something or did she know what I was trying to do?
Out of no where, I was tackled out of the tree. My knife falls out of my hand as I land on the ground. Luckily, I didn't fall on a wing because that is one of the most painful bones to break for an angel.
I see Xavier on top of me as we wrestle on the ground. I kick him hard in the back, making him momentarily off balance. I take the opportunity to punch him across the face and roll us over so I was on top.
I try to put as much weight onto his chest as I could so he couldn't roll over again. I struggle to pin his arms down and keep his legs from kicking me.
Out the corner of my eye, I spot my knife. It was too far to reach.
A red glow momentarily emit from Xavier's hands before I'm launched backwards. My head hits a tree hard and I groan. I was in a daze. I try to get my bearing but my brain wouldn't let me focus. I see Xavier rushing over to me. I guess he won.
"Kara, I-I'm so sorry. I-I didn't know I could do that. I didn't mean to." Xavier stutters.
"It's fine. You won." I say dizzily.
My head was pounding. The world was spinning.
"Kara, look at me. Stay with me." He turns my head so I'm looking at him but I saw three of his head.
"THIA! HELP!" Xavier screams. "Kara, stay with me. Please, don't pass out."
* * * * *
I slowly awake to a slight pinch on my head but it's quickly replaced by warmth. I place my hand on my head to find the source of the heat. I touch a hand.
I open my eyes and they land on Xavier. He was already looking at me. We don't say anything though. I wanted to but I didn't know what to say.
Xavier lowers his hand from my head and my hand falls to my side. "Thia says you need to stay in bed the rest of the day."
