"Excuse me? You've never heard of me?" The scawny man in front of us asks, clearly confused.

Xavier and I look at each other, then back at the man.

"No, sorry." I say.

"Hm...I guess I could understand you, Seraphim. Your mom never did like me very much. Said I was crazy! Ha! How rude! I prefer the term creative. But, Reid, you don't know who I am? Huh, I'm surprised I was sure at least your parents would have mentioned me at least once."

"I'm sorry but how do you know us and our families?" Xavier questions in a more demanding tone.

The guy, Allen, becomes more serious. "Would you care to sit down? It's a long story. I'll make hot chocolate."

He walks away from us before we get a chance to respond. I guess we don't get a choice.

That's when I noticed Xavier and I were still holding hands. I could feel my cheeks growing hotter. I didn't know what to do. Should I wait for him to let go or should I separate us before things get awkward?

He answers my question for me. His hand slides out of mine and he walks over to the couch. I felt slightly disappointed and empty.

"Might as well sit. We should find out how this guy knows who we are." He states and gestures to the couch.

I nod but notice a problem. There was only enough room for one person to sit on the couch. Where was Xavier going to sit? I didn't want him to have to stand the entire time.

As if the couch heard my thoughts, it extended out to create another seat, knocking over books in the process. We sit down and Xavier drapes his arm on the back of the couch. His right ankle rested on top of his left thigh. I fold my hands in my lap.

I look around the room more. There wasn't much to look at besides the stacks of books so I look at the titles to see if I recognized any. They were very obscure. "Useful Ways to Use Dragon Spit", "5 Easy Steps to Make Delicious Ogre Snot Soup", and other very odd titles. Some were even in languages I didn't understand which was weird because I knew numerous different ones.

Suddenly, something silver flies across my field of vision. I blink rapidly and look around to try to find what it was. It flies in front of me again and circles around my head. Then it stops right in front of my face. A dragon, sort of. It was made completely out of metal with emerald eyes. It was actually kinda cute since it wasn't more than 5 inches big.
It flies closer to my face and I couldn't help but smile. I think it was trying to be intimidating but it was too cute. The dragon then nuzzles my cheek and makes a sound of satisfaction. I giggle as it flies around my head one more time and lands on my leg. It makes itself comfortable and I lightly stroke it's back.

"Is that a Narginial Dragon?" Xavier asks me with wide eyes.

I shrug. "I don't know. Why?"

"Those dragons-"

"Hot chocolate is done! Whew, that took longer than expected." Allen says as he stumbles down the stairs, barely managing to not spill the tray of mugs he was carrying.

I glance at Xavier to see he was staring at the mini dragon on my leg.

Allen passes a mug to each of us. Three marshmallows floated on top of the steaming hot chocolate. He takes the last mug and the tray disappears. My eyes widen. Woah.

Then he crosses his legs underneath him but stays floating in the air. Now my mouth hung open. I've never seen anyone do that.

"Kamila! Leave Seraphim alone." Allen directs at the dragon on my leg.

It snorts at him but doesn't move. I didn't mind it there though.

"Is that a Narginial Dragon?" Xavier asks Allen.

"Sure is!"

I take a sip of my hot chocolate.

Xavier continues, "But don't they only like people that-"

"Let's start at the beginning of the story." Allen interrupts. I had no idea what just happened. "When both of you were born, I knew you were different. Wait, let me back up." He rubs the back of his neck. "So you know how every species is only allowed to marry in their own kind?"

Both of us nod.

"Well...uh-there's really no easy way to say this."

"Our parents didn't..." Xavier reluctantly says.

Allen nods.

"But how can that be? Both of my parents are angels." I interject.

"Or so you've been told. Listen Seraphim, yes your mom is an angel but your dad is...well, he is a dragon. Sort of like your friend Ty. Of course Ty isn't all dragon either but that's besides the point right now. Your real dad left and your mom married your dad that you have now." Allen pauses. "I know this is a lot to take in but you deserve to know. You aren't normal. You have special powers."

I lean back in the couch and put my hand on my forehead. How could this be possible? I guess it would make sense though. My dad, well I guess stepdad, never did show that he liked me all that much. Now I know it's becuase I'm not really his daughter. It all makes sense now. I was slightly depressed that I have been lied to my entire life.

"So your saying I might be able to turn into a dragon?" I ask.

"No, no of course not. That would be ridiculous." Allen says.

"Right...ridiculous..."

"You probably can only control fire like a dragon can."

"Like breath fire?"

"No, like create a flame in your palm or manipulate fire. Don't worry, you shouldn't get burned."

I examine both of my palms. I didn't see anything out of the ordinary. Was this true? Could I actually control fire?

Suddenly excited, I ask, "How do I do it?"

"Only time will tell."

Wow, typical wizard answer. I let my hands fall to my lap. My eyes land on the dragon, Kamila. "So...why is this dragon a big deal? I mean Xavier was pretty surprised to see her."

"Ah, she is a very special breed. They're very deadly but killing isn't part of their instincts. They are very picky about who they interact with. Usually, it's purebred dragons with a pure heart. I was intrigued to find Kamila had chosen you."

I jokingly remark, "Hey! What's that suppose to mean."

Allen chuckles. "All I'm saying is it is a very rare choice."

"What do you mean by 'choice'?" I ask as I stroke her back. Her tail curls around my finger. I smile.

"She has chosen you. Now you get to keep her."

"What?" I look at Allen with disbelief. I've never had a pet before.

"Every Narginial Dragon chooses one person to be around for the rest of that person's life. Nobody knows why because they are very strong and independant creatures, fully capable of living on their own. Kamila chose you for a reason."

I look down at the tiny dragon sitting on my leg. She chose me? Why?

"Of course you don't have to call her Kamila. You can give her any name you want." Allen explains.

"No, Kamila is fine." I only say that because I'm terrible at picking names. Kamila is a pretty name anyway.

Kamila perks up when I say her name and looks at me. I can't belive it. I have my very own pet dragon!
