All of us were gather on the couches. Xavier and I sat on one, Thia and Ty sat on another, and Evan sat alone on the last couch. I wouldn't even look at him because I was still very mad at his comment he made when I went to wake him up. I held the box in my lap.
"Right, so-um-Kara and I went into the woods this morning to find out what this place was that I knew we had to go to. I don't know how, but my brain knew where to go and we ended up in Allen the wizard's house." Xavier starts to explain.
He talks about how Allen knew our parents and he knew we were different. I decide to open the box while Xavier explains everything.
"Wait, what do you mean 'we'?" Ty interrupts.
There were three scrolls and a bunch of potion bottles neatly stacked inside the box. The scrolls were labeled with the others' names. I had a feeling each scroll told their origin and what their possible abilities were.
I look up to see everyone staring at me. Xavier was pleading with his eyes for help in explaining to them what they really were.
"I think you guys should read these." I say and pass each scroll to the appropriate person.
They take the scroll with uncertainty and slowly unroll them. Everyone was silent as they read the information on the paper. I wasn't sure how they would react to this information. Anger? Denial? Fear? I prepared for the worst.
It was the longest ten seconds of my life. The anticipation was killing me. If they were going to be upset, I wanted it to come quicker.
Evan was the first to finish. He sets the scroll next to him and puts his head in his hands. He just sits there, concealing his face. Ty smiles, not exactly the reaction I was expecting.
"That explains so much." Ty says.
He wasn't mad. He wasn't angry. He was glad...the exact opposite of anything I anticipated.
Thia was...what I would identify as in a state of shock. She stared at the floor with confused eyes. I didn't know what to say to any of them but, luckily I didn't have to.
"I'm part fucking fairy." Evan mumbles into his hands. "A fairy!" He removes his hands from his face. "Of all the species I could have been, a fairy...a fairy!"
I hold back a laugh. I didn't see that coming. The biggest asshole is half sparkly fairy. I knew laughing would only make it worse but it was too funny. I have to cover my mouth to hide my smile.
"That's pretty cool, dude. What kind?" Ty asks Evan.
Evan glares at him. "Mischief."
"Oh, that's not as bad as some of the other ones. If you were half colorful fairy, I have to admit, that would not be cool."
"Thanks, Ty." Evan says sarcastically and rolls his eyes.
"Well I'm half Wind Element Elf. I think that's pretty sick. I always knew something was different about me. I would always win our air races. Now I understand why." Ty smiles.
I smile back at him. Then I notice Thia still staring at the floor in shock.
"Thia?" I say softly.
She doesn't reply. I look at everyone else as if to ask 'what do I do?' about her. They shrug.
"Thia?" I say again.
She mumbles something none of us could here.
"What?" Xavier questions.
She looks up and gives Xavier the death stare. "I said, my entire like has been a lie." She sits up and her face becomes hard. "MY PARENTS DIDN'T EVEN HAVE THE DECENCY TO TELL ME THE TRUTH." She screams.
