No, no, no! It can't be gone!
I throw my clothes out of the way as I search the floor for my sketch book, thinking the raiders might have dropped it or something.
It was no where to be found.
I was hyperventilating. It can't be gone. No. Why would they take it? How did they even find it?
I fist my hair with both of my hands.
Okay, calm down Kara. Nobody here knows about it and the raiders probably care less about a sketch book. As long as my friends don't find out, I think I'll be okay.
I take deep breaths and stand up, releasing my hair from my fists. Act normal around everyone else and it will be okay.
I hear someone walking down the hall so I start acting like I was picking up clothes. Whoever it was walks right past my room. Maybe I should actually try to straighten this place up.
Three hours later, everything was put back in it's place. I folded my clothes and put them back in their place, I put my mattress back on its frame, and I clean up the broken glass from the window. Unfortunately, we can't get it fixed right now so I taped a piece of wood over the hole.
I was slightly upset that all my weapons were gone though. All I have left is what I had in my backpack. That included a five inch knife I usually tuck into my boots and a pistol that usually sits in the waistband of my pants.
All of our food was taken as well. Basically, the raiders took anything and everything they could carry. If they could have taken the house itself, the would have. I hate raiders.
Xavier pokes his head into my room. "Hey Kara?"
I turn around to face him. "Hey."
"Can you come spar with me outside?"
"Sure. Let me change into my fighting clothes first."
"Thanks!" He says and leaps away from the door excitedly.
I chuckle as I close my door to change.
I was ready in ten minutes and head downstairs, my small knife in my hand. Xavier was already waiting outside for me.
"Any particular reason you want to fight right now?" I ask him.
"I'm kinda angry with the raiders and need to get it off of my chest."
"Fair enough."
We get into our fighting stances. Thia wasn't here to call 'fight' so we just start on our own.
We circle one another for a few seconds. In that few seconds, I could see just how angry he really was. Something that he cherished was probably stolen by the raiders. I quickly decide that I'm going to put up a good fight but let him win.
I make the first move and launch myself at Xavier. He deflects my attack, making me land on the other side of him. He immediately tries to attack my back but I dodge him.
We fight back and forth for a good ten minutes. I could see his anger was boiling as he tried attack after attack on me. I figured it was time to let him win.
I purposely fall backwards from one of his attacks and land on my back. Xavier instantly pounces on me and tries to pin my limbs to the ground. I struggle against him until he pins my right arm down and presses his knife to my throat.
"Okay, you got me." I say.
He rolls his eyes. "I know you let me win."
My mouth drops in a sarcastic way. "What? Why would you think that?"
