"Excuse me, miss. Are you okay? You don't look so good."
I turn around to see a guy, maybe in his early twenties, staring behind me.
"I-uh-yeah I'm fine." I stutter, still not fully recovered from whatever that was on the dancefloor.
He wore a dark maroon, button-up shirt with the sleeves rolled up to his elbows and black skinny jeans. He had brown, messily placed hair and dark brown eyes. His whole appearance screamed bad boy.
"Can I get you a drink?" The guy asks me politely.
"Uh-sure." I reply.
He leans on top of the bar with his left forearm. I notice a simple black band wrapped around his wrist. Interesting. I felt like I had seen that somewhere but I couldn't put my finger on it.
"Two iced teas." The guy orders.
The bartender quickly gets our drinks and hands them to the mysterious guy.
"So what's a girl like you doing here all alone?" He asks as he hands me my drink.
I roll my eyes, "Oh please."
"Sorry?" He seemed generally confused.
I take a sip of my drink. "I see what you're doing."
"Which is?"
"Typical guy in a club. Spots a girl by herself, buys her a drink, compliments her, and tries to be nice in the hopes of getting laid tonight."
He looks at me dumbfounded. "I'm sorry, miss, if that's what you think I am doing. That was not my intention. I was just trying to be nice."
I look at him and try to figure out if he was actually telling the truth. From what I saw, he actually looked hurt from what I had said.
"Oh. I'm sorry I just- I've seen that happen so many times and it almost happened to me before and -"
He smiles and interrupts me by saying, "It's all right. I understand."
That smile. He looked so familiar for some reason.
"What's your name?" I ask.
"Levi."
He holds his hand out to shake. I accept it. "Kara."
"Pleased to meet you."
I take another drink of my tea. Levi does the same. Then he sets his cup down and stands up.
"Well Miss Kara, now that we've been aquainted, would you care to dance?"
I was unsure about accepting his offer because of my experience only fifteen minutes ago. Taking a deep breath, I stand up and say, "Seeing as you got me a drink, why not."
Levi smiles and we walk towards the dancefloor. I couldn't tell if I felt claustrophobic last time or I was in a state of panic because I couldn't find Leila. Well, I was about to find out as Levi and I make our way into the middle of the dancefloor.
I was a little nervous at first. I made sure my wings were tucked tight behind my back but I was a little less cautious of bumping into people. I figured 'if I want to dance, people can move out of my way.'
It was actually pretty fun now that I was less cautious and actually had a great time. Then someone suddenly shoves me forward and I stumbled onto Levi.
"Sorry!" I shout over the music to him.
I back up and bump into someone else. I try to move to the left only to nudge someone else. I spin in a circle. People were closing in. The air became thick. I started to hyperventilate. I couldn't breath.
