How could I have been so stupid?! The signs were as clear as day! The quick bar service, the black band arond his wrist, the way people always moved out of his way, the color red, it all fit! That's why he looked so familiar...

The guard and I flew towards the city's holding cells. I didn't resist them. I knew this was my own fault. When we reach our destination, I was unhandcuffed and given a set of clothes to change into. I was led over to a bathroom where I quickly changed. They were simply grey clothes that were two sizes too big for me. I gave my clothes to the guard that stood outside the bathroom and he put them in a large bin with my purse. Then I was led to my cell. Not suprisingly, nobody else was occupying the other cells. Angels are suppose to be good. They don't belong here...unless they make out with a devil...

I lay on my stomach on my thin mattress and cry into my pillow. A couple minutes later, I hear a few more people walk in. I lift my head to see two guards dragging in an uncooperative Levi. They shove him into a cell that was two down from mine. You would probably think 'he can probably just escape because he's a devil and all.' Well, you would be wrong. These cells are designed to keep any kind of creature from escaping.

I don't even look at Levi as the two guards leave and it's just the two of us. I return my face to my pillow.

"Kara." I hear him say.

I don't acknowledge him.

"Look, I'm sorry-"

"No you're not!" I snap my head up to finally look at him. "You're not sorry so don't even act like it! Why would you do this to me? Why was I your target?!" I yell at him.

He was standing up and gripping the bars facing me. "You weren't a target. I didn't have a specific target-"

"Hold on a second." I say firmly and stand up to face him. " Who's your dad?"

Levi sighs and hangs his head.

"So you're telling me your dad is the devil, you and him somehow manage to sneak into our city, and you don't have a specific target?! That's some pretty big bullshit."

"Kara, it's not like that!"

"Right, okay. So, I'm just suppose to believe what you have to say after what you just did to me?"

"Do you think I want this?! I don't get a choice in who my father is! I didn't ask for this life! I'm forced to live this lifestyle; slowly torturing and killing people."

"So that's why you went to a club to find someone to hook up with even though you knew you would get caught? How does this work out?"

Levi slams his hand onto the bars. "I didn't want to hook up with anyone! I'm not like that-"

"Give it up already! Don't you get it? It's over! You won! Quit lying! It's not like I'm listening to what you have to say anyway."

"I haven't told you a single lie. You're an angel, can't you tell when someone is lying?"

"Stop. Just stop." I say quieter and lay back on my bed, burying my face into the pilow once more. I knew he had a point.

After a minute of silence, I hear him say, "Okay...but I know you felt it too... when we kissed."

I've been in this cell for an entire day now. One long, boring day. Now it's time for my trial. I find out how bad my punishment will be.

I'm handcuffed and led out of my cell. The guards take me down a hall and into a room with a heavy, metal door. Inside, it was a circular room with wood floors and whte walls. Six people sat in chairs in a row. One of them was my dad...

Two chairs were placed in the center of the room. I walk into the room with my head held high and sat in the chair on the right. The guards handcuffed my wrists to the armrests. Then they produced a needle and slid it into my arm. I knew it was the truth formula so I couldn't lie during the interrogation. It's not like I would lie though... they've already caught me. I don't have anything else to hide.

Next, Levi was brought into the room. The guards escorting him in, forcefully seat him into the chair next to me and handcuff his wrists to the chair. One guard grabs Levi's head and tilts it to the side while the other guard injects the truth formula into his neck. Hm, I wonder why they injected mine into my arm.

"Karael Seraphim, you are charged with conspiracy with a devil. Did you or did you not have an intimate interaction with the devil next to you?" The head councilman questions.

I gulp. "Yes, I did."

"Were you aware of being under any influence of his?"

I wish. "No, I was not."

He turns to Levi. "How did you get into our city?"

Levi doesn't respond.

The councilman sighs. "We can do this the easy or hard way, boy. I suggest you cooperate."

Out of the corner of my eye, I spot one of the guards holding a tazer stick. The one where it shocks you at the end. Yeah, those hurt. A lot.

I turn towards Levi and ever so slightly nod my head. He sighs in acknowledgement.

"I came here with my dad." He simply states.

"We are aware of that. The question is how."

Levi shrugs. "I wasn't paying attention."

I could tell the councilman was already getting frustrated. He turns back to me. "Did you know this devil before tonight?"

"No." I wish I didn't know him at all.

The people of the council turn to themselves to deliberate. After only a minute, they reach a conclusion and turn back to us. I see a look of devastation on my dad's face. Uh-oh.

"Ms. Seraphim, do you realize the seriousness of your actions?" The head councilman asks me.

I feel tears start to build up. "Yes."

"So you must understand we cannot tolerate treason in this city."

I nod, the tears threatening to spill over.

"That is why we must make this decision. The devil is sentenced to 100 years in our cells and Karael Seraphim is sentenced to banishment in the human world."
