~Zak's pov~

We both lay on the rocky bank of the lava lake, out of breath, but still finding the energy to giggle about our little play-fight.

After what felt like only seconds, I sighed.

"I won..." I murmur, as I try to catch my breath in the hot air.

"Oh, yeah sure." Bad remarked in a sassy tone as he pushed himself into a sitting position to look down at me.

He always makes me feel so small.

Bad crossed his arms and turned away, then got up to grab his tunic.

"Soooo... that was awesome, what should we do next?" I ask. I roll over, keeping my eyes, whilst still hidden by the box on my head, on the demon.

"Next? Skeppy, you probably have realized by now that time doesn't really exist here, but the day is basically over."

"What?! No, it can't be!"

Bad gave me a soft look as he shook his head

"You say that now, but as soon as you get up, that small body of yours is going to be very sore and tired. Swimming in lava isn't the easiest thing, especially if you do it all day."

At first, I don't believe him. It felt as if we had only been in the lava for... what... like two hours tops, right?

But, sure enough, when I pushed myself up, my legs felt like jello as I struggled to stand up straight.

As he fastened his cape, Bad gave me a look that spoke everything I didn't want to hear; 'I told you so'

"I get it..." I mumble, not making eye contact with the demon.

I began to wobble over to him, finding it really hard to walk. How long were we playing in the lava for me to have gotten this exhausted?

By the time I make it over to him, I feel like my legs are going to give out, and I grab his cloak for support as I look up at his face.

Bad sighs as he pulls his hood over his head.

"Would you like to ride on my shoulders Skeppy? It's a long way up all the stairs, and it seems like you are having a bit of trouble on your own." Bad asked as he kneeled down, closer to my height.

At this point, I am too tired, and slightly too embarrassed to say anything, to I just slowly nod. With that, Bad lifted me up and placed me on his shoulders, then stood up once again to begin walking up the several flights of stairs.

For as little as I remember of my human life, this feels... nostalgic... in a way.

...

I think my father used to let me ride on his shoulders when I was a kid...

I lean on Bad's head. I don't want to fall asleep, but I am extremely tired... and the fact that he smells like fresh rain isn't helping my heavy eyelids...

So, I decide to try and start another conversation with Bad, after all, we had reached the top of the staircase, but were now going to opposite direction from my room... I think...

"Hey Bad... Where are we going..?" I yawn, glancing around the hallway.

"Right here."

He said as he ducked down to enter a room. The door was tailored to his hight, but he seemed to be careful of me one his shoulders. Before I could even look around quickly he grabbed something, and then left the room, starting the way towards my room.

"What did you just grab..?"

"It's a surprise gift for you. Skeppy... I'm not going to be here for a majority of tomorrow. I have somewhere I have to go, so, I am giving you this, along with the piece of advice, don't do anything stupid while I'm gone."

I can't help but feel a little disappointed as I blink a few times...

Wait! No! The demon leaving is a good thing! I don't trust it... I can't trust it...

Do I trust him...

"Where are you going..?" I yawn again, trying my best to stay awake.

"I'm going to meet a friend of mine at the border. Her name is Niki, and she is an Angel. We usually talk about what's going on between our two plains, as that is why we have special permission to meet, and talk once a month."

"Are you close?" I ask, a little sharper than what I would have liked it to sound.

"I'd say not really close, but she was basically the first person who would talk to me. My first friend... Wait, no... my second friend before you."

Why did that information make me feel slightly better..?

"You sound tired, it's okay if you want to fall asleep on the way there." Bad says is a sympathetic tone.

I nod as I give in to my tiredness, letting my eyelids fall shut.

"Goodnight Skeppy, sleep well."

~Author time~

Yep, this was kind of a filler chapter, the next one will be longer.

Anyways, sorry for not keeping up on my writing, darlings.

I've had band camp everyday for the past week and have been really tired.

I will try to get into a better updating schedule.

Other than that, I was thinking about writing another story with a bit of Skephalo, and maybe a bit of dnf / karlnap. A street racer Au.

Would you lovelies be interested in reading that?

Welp, you guys know the drill:

Stay safe lovelies, and make sure to drink plenty of water!
