I came in from dropping Ellie off at school when I saw tk rush in from the backyard
"Is everything okay ?" I said dropping my keys on the rack as he scrambled around the house
"I need a shoebox !" He said looking they the closet
" a shoebox ? Why ?" I asked
"Because I killed a bee! Fuck! Why do we never have anything ." He said
"You killed a bee ?" I said trying to stop him and grab his shoulders
"Got one ." Tk sighed in relief
"Carlos this is not the time to stop me,"he said releasing himself from my grip Letting me see his bee sting in his arm
I followed him into the yard where he placed the bee in the box
"T it's just a bee ." I laughed
"It's not just a bee did you know they pollinate a 3rd of our food supply it didn't deserve to die it stung me and I swatted it and now it's dead !" Tk said
"Tk the bee stung you it's an active reflex cmon get off the floor," I said trying to help him up
"Carlos again not the time ." He said placing the lid
"Are you sure this isn't some emotional reaction to something?"
"No I just wanna give the bee a proper funeral please just let me do that .. please ?" He asked
"Okay if it makes you feel better," I said
After we buried the bee Tk looked at the ground
"Hey ... what's really going on ?"
"I'm so fucking tired I can't sleep and I killed a fucking bee and I got stung," Tk said burying his head in my chest
"Let's go get that tail out," I said grabbing his hand leading him to the kitchen
"You ready ?" I asked him getting the tweezers
"Just do it ." He said
I pulled it out Tk not even flinching
"Let's get you to bed okay ?" I said watching as he rubbed his eyes
"There's no point I'm not gonna fall asleep believe me I've tried ." Tk said as I put a bandaid on his injury
"You are gonna get some sleep you know why because Imma sing to you play with you hair and cuddle you until you fall asleep and then I'll leave when you fall asleep ." I said
"I'm not a baby you know ." Tk said
"Your my baby ." I said rubbing his shoulders
I sang to Tk a song my mother used to sing to me when I couldn't sleep as I cuddled him
After 20 minutes Tk fell asleep I tried to get up but he was laying on my stomach fast asleep and I didn't have the heart to disturb him
"Night baby ." I said running my fingers thru his hair
