Angelic Patience

To say I made a scene when I made it to the castle was an understatement. All activities ceased as the dirty, mussed up queen trudged past with an injured fox. I saw Hunter and immediately turned and walked the other way, luckily it was where the infirmary was. I'd like to say the reactions I got would be the same as if I just started spewing fire at people. But in reality the staff was probably unsurprised I had gotten into trouble again. I left Seriph with a highly trained doctor that was a werewolf and went to wash the dirt, blood, and leaves off of me. Obviously, Seriph was in capable hands when they were not my own. "Aspen! Why is there a delirious werewolf demanding that you're his mate with the grounds keeper?" A very irritated siren yelled at me through my bathroom door. Hmm, to tell her the truth or not?
"I got hungry? Ugh, things got messy this time! Just get rid of him for me, please." I groaned over the rush of water. There was no response so I had assumed Sasha left. However when the shower door was tugged open I screamed, I screamed loudly. Sasha rose a single eyebrow and stared me down. "What the hell, Sasha!" I snapped, much too annoyed to be embarrassed.
"No, you are going to go take care of your mess. That means that you are going to get rid of the werewolf." She pulled her lips up in a fake smile before sneering at me. I regressed back to a whine and slumped my shoulders down. "I'd have to be an angel to have the patience for that werewolf!"
"Obviously you've yet to meet an angel." Sasha grumbled, whilst shooting me an icy glare.
"They exist!?" I squealed excitedly.
"You know for a fact that demons exist because of Sam, but it never occurred to you that angels could exist?"
"Um......no?"
"We will discuss this after you have cleaned up your werewolf mess. Wipe his memory or use your powers to clear things up. Just get the werewolf to leave." And with that Sasha left my bathroom, not bothering to close the shower door or the bathroom door. At least my bedroom door was closed. I finished my shower in a sulky mood. A pout was etched into my lips as I slid into another pair of black leggings and a loose shirt. My hair remained down and dampened the back of my shirt. I slipped my feet into a pair of flats and trudged out of my room. Clarice stood outside my door with a pensive expression. "What is it, Clarice?" I sighed, but began walking down the hall.
"The werewolf is fighting Hunter in the courtyard. Colton is placing bets on who will win with the bystanders." Her face paled considerably and I began running. Hoping to avoid any damage to my courtyard. When I reached the fight Hunter had the werewolf pinned by his throat and both had shifted into their animal form. "Stop this....now!" I ground out between clenched teeth, causing all chatter to cease.
"It was just getting good!" Colton smirked at me, but I had no time for his distractions. I walked right up to the two growling animals and pulled them apart. Hunter had the nerve to snap at my fingers while the stupid wolf licked at me like an excited puppy. "Both of you shift back." I ordered angrily. They obeyed and followed me into a room meant for political discussions not reprimands.
"Hunter your attack was uncalled for and if you ever do anything like that again I will send you back to your own territory. Now you on the other hand need to understand some things. You are not my mate. You are nothing to me but wasted space. I fed from you because I am a Succubus, it's what I do. Just so you understand completely let me unscramble your emotions so that your wolf is no longer confused." I called up my power, feeling a rush of raw sensation. With a flick of my wrist long tendrils of turquoise slid through the air only visible to me. I watched as my power wrapped around the werewolf, with a single thought I stripped my influence away from him. No longer was he compelled to protect me or have feelings for me. He knew I wasn't his mate now. "I apologize my Queen, please forgive me for my unsavory behavior." The werewolf looked terrified at his own actions. I bit back a laugh and dismissed him. Now alone with Hunter he tried to talk to me. But the second his mouth opened I turned and left the room.
Things were fixed....well for the werewolf. Hunter wasn't going to receive my forgiveness any time soon. I had a right to be mad and I wasn't going to let him take that away from me. He betrayed me, lied to me, and his ex-mate tried to kill me. At least I was positive the mate bond had not survived the herb. I felt no connection to any creature. And I didn't feel the need to feed on someone. I pushed through a heavy door only to discover a room filled with old books. A smile tugged at my lips, it had been a long time since I had been able to just sit down and read. To lose myself in the pages of a book. Just the smell of ink and paper had my stress level lowering. The door closed behind me as I stepped towards a bookshelf. Upon closer inspection the books in front of me were all about one subject... Succubi. Maybe I could learn more about myself, my abilities, what my species meant. Maybe, just maybe I could learn how to control my own future. I could see why being a Succubus was so coveted. If I was controlled then whoever controlled me controlled everyone.
I grabbed a large leather bound book that looked to be an old journal and immersed myself in the words. My hunch had been correct, the book was the diary of a Succubus named Minx. She had lived around the same time as the Roman Empire. Her life held many obstacles and she had detailed accounts of all her lovers. To say the first ten pages was all sex would be accurate. But I needed to know more about my people and this was the only place I could accomplish my goal. So I tucked myself into a chair and devoured books, trying to learn anything I could about who I was supposed to be.
