Hungry and Hungover

Kill me, please. My eyes were light sensitive and the sound of breathing made my brain hurt. Even my teeth were in pain! Someone was knocking profusely on my door and Seriph was letting out short angry barks. "Shut up and go away!" I groaned in agony.

"Your Highness, it is time for breakfast I must get you ready." Clarice called through the door, that meant her sister was the one pounding on the door. "That's not necessary, tell the cook to send something up. I will not be leaving my room this morning." I snapped, covering my face with a fluffy pillow.

"Very well, Miss." I sighed in relief as footsteps faded down the hallway. I wasn't even 21 or drinking but I had a killer hangover. If I had known that Hunter had a psycho mate I never would've even kissed him. Ten minutes later there was more knocking at my door, so with a string of curses I stumbled out of bed and opened the door angrily. Clarice stood there with a tray of food, I hastily moved out of her way. She set the tray down on the coffee table and darted back out into the hallway, I closed and locked my door immediately. I ate the provided chocolate chip pancakes and fresh strawberries. Clarice had also placed two migraine relievers in a small bowl, I downed both with a sip of milk. I placed the tray outside my door and retreated back into my nest of blankets. I burrowed in the semi darkness of my room waiting for the pills to kick in. Once the pounding had lessened to bearable I trudged into my bathroom for a warm shower. Afterwards I felt human once again. Or at least as close to human as possible nowadays. I pulled my damp hair into a large sloppy bun and changed into clean leggings and a big sweater. I left the safe silence of my room after swiping on some chapstick. The hall was filled with people chattering away and wandering aimlessly. I made my way past strangers and slipped out through a side door into the large garden. Seriph had free reign over the garden and she knew it. She hid shiny objects in thorny rose bushes and bit people who came too close to her hidden treasures.

"Let's go exploring today, Ser. Show me what you've found in the woods." I called out, feeling a furry body rubbing against my legs. Seriph barked happily and darted forward, leading me towards the garden wall. It was strictly against the rules for me to go wandering off on my own, especially without a guard. But I was a rule breaker through and through. Besides it's not like they could stop me, I was already gone. I raced my little fox down the twisty paths of the garden and ran out of a hidden gate. It had been covered by a large, leafy shrub but Seriph has already known its location. Once past the gate I sprinted past the panting animal and crashed through the tree line. Instant shade provided my eyes with relief from the bright sun and cooled off my heated skin. The leaves where a thick canopy of life.

Seriph nipped playfully at my heel to get me moving faster again and I quickly obliged. The whistle of the wind soaring past me had freedom glaring to life inside of me. I no longer felt like a caged beast, but a free spirit. My eyelids fluttered close and I titled my face further into the breeze. Reveling in the cold tingle it left up in my cheeks. A cheerful laugh bubbled out of my chest and was lost to the sounds of nature. I was so absorbed in just feeling, just experiencing sensation that I fell. I fell hard, Seriph had stopped and I had kept going. Smacking my shins into a fallen tree trunk at full velocity. My small body went soaring. I tucked and rolled, landing on moss, leaves, and pointy sticks. Not to mention the occasional rock. I was beyond winded and my entire body throbbed painfully. Seriph trotted towards me whining through her nose.

"Ouch..." I groaned, before sprawling across the ground weakly. But as I glanced around I was in awe. Surrounding me was a field of tall grasses and gorgeous flowers that I had never seen before. The air smelled of the sweet flowers and it was addictive. I felt as though I had fallen down a rabbit hole and ended up in a magical place with strange new things. Seriph ran around me with excited barks, nudging me every so often.  Getting back to my feet was easy but moving even a step was difficult. I didn't want to lose sight of anything. The loud snap of sticks being stepped on was accompanied by the crackle of dried leaves being crushed. Someone was approaching and loudly. Seriph stepped in front of me protectively, releasing a threatening bark as she did so. A large man decked out in jeans and a tight forest green t-shirt lumbered into view. At the sight of him a powerful surge of raw hunger ripped through me, twisting up my insides. "Ahh!" I cried out, bending in half whilst clutching my abdomen.

"Miss? Are you alright? You really shouldn't be out here." The man sounded genuinely worried and confused. Acid dipped claws tore through me at his voice and I whimpered quietly. I glanced over at the man once again, he was older. He was at least twenty-five, and his left ring finger held a gold band. But all my brain could process was that this dark haired, blue eyes stranger had a delicious gold glow beneath his skin.

"Stop! Don't come near me!" I yelled when he took three steps toward me. Seriph began whining and sniffing me to see what was wrong. I was hungry.

I needed to feed, of course it just so happened that I needed to feed right now. I had been drugged and now I needed more energy to flush it out of my system completely. My eyes began to glow as my powers surged up, caressing me softly. "Miss?" The man asked again, and I straightened up. No longer feeling the intense pain only my hunger. I advanced towards him, with a satisfied smirk on my face. My appearance altered slightly to fit his preferred type. My hair lightened to a honey blonde and my face softened, becoming more delicate and doll like. My eyes widened and changed to a sky blue. A light dusting of freckles covered my nose. My body also changed, my muscles softening and my chest becoming slightly smaller. Over all I looked like a delicate little thing unable to protect herself. My now blonde hair slipped from the bun it had been in and cascaded down my back in soft ringlets.

I saw the slight darkening of his eyes, the harsh swallow, even the small tug of his bottom lip as he bit it. This man wasn't human, he was definitely a werewolf. And in my experience a chase would be exactly what is needed. I gasped lightly, widening my large innocent baby blues and took a step back. I glanced around looking frightened. "Don't run, I'm not going to hurt you. Just please don't run." The man sounded strained, I jumped at his voice before bolting across the field of flowers. I made sure to run at human speed, making myself easy to catch.

The man caught me right before I broke the tree line, it only took him seconds. Somehow I ended up on my back amid the flower stems, panting from my run. I had just been standing less than a millisecond ago. I whimpered, letting the smell of fear radiate off of my skin. "Shh, you're okay. Shh, I've got you beautiful." The man had his face pressed against my neck, smelling my skin and hair. I struggled weakly, hitting him with my hands feebly.

"Let me go, please!" I cried out, bucking my hips to try and get him off of me. But I used too much strength and he did fall off of me. I got back up and ran again. Practically taunting his wolf to come and get me. This time when he grabbed me I sent my fist to his face, it was weak and he didn't even move. "I'm not letting you get away from me, stop fighting sweetheart." He grabbed my face in a tight grip and kissed me. Immediately my powers latched onto him, drawing out his gold energy.

I felt as though I were charging up, like a phone. I could feel myself getting stronger and healthier. The drug was obliterated from my system and my hangover was gone.  I fed as though I had been starved for months. Reveling in the radiant glow that powered me up. I felt the man's grip loosen and I forced myself to pull back before I killed him. "Thanks for that, wolf." I said, while removing myself from his grasp. I winked at him and turned around, I walked away towards my favorite little fox. I was grabbed and pulled backwards roughly.

"Oh no you don't, you're not getting away from me that easily." He growled, dread coiled inside of my stomach. I tried to wrench myself from his grip but was unable. Claws dug into my flesh and I gasped. Before I could do anything sharp teeth pierced my shoulder, I cried out in pain. Fire ripped through my veins and I could feel his teeth grinding against my muscles and bone. He released my shoulder and I whipped around in anger. "Did you just bite me?!" I snarled, clamping my hand over the bleeding nite.

"I had to, it's the only way I can keep you."

"Get the fuck away from me you psycho mutt!"

     "Just calm down, babe."

"Excuse me! You just took a chunk out of me and I'm supposed to calm down! Now I don't even feel bad for feeding from you even though you're married. And like ten years older than me, you pedophile!" I hissed, shooting him my most vicious glare.

"Sarah is just a human, she knows nothing."

"That doesn't matter, you just bit the fucking Queen!" My appearance dropped and I was back to myself. All brown haired, green eyed, pissed off me. And I was ready to kill this mutt. "Queen? I marked you.... I just marked the Succubus Queen."

"You did what now?" Things just got way more complicated, I should've just stuck with my hangover. Exploring woods was never a good idea and this just proved that entire theory to be correct.
