Cray

"What's for breakfast?" bungad sakin ng kapapasok lang na si Ember sa dining. Mukhang nakaligo na din ito dahil iba na yung suot nitong damit samantalang ako ay nakapajama pa. "You haven't changed your clothes? You drool on that last night. Sana nagpalit ka man lang. You smell terrible." Ngumiwi pa ito pagkakita sakin na nakapajama pa din.

Dire-diretso ito sa sink para maghugas ng kamay.

That's a habit I am beginning to notice. Lagi itong dumidiretso muna sa sink para maghugas ng kamay bago humawak ng kahit anong kubyertos.

"Kapal mo. Yung laway mo yung tumulo dito sa damit ko." Kumuha pa ako ulit ng isa pang tinapay na nilagyan ko ng maraming itlog. "And let me correct that, sweetheart, I don't smell terrible. Because if that's the case, I won't wake up with you nuzzling on my neck. You seemed liking my scent too much."

"In your dreams."

"Uh-uh. You were the one dreaming last night. Nagising na nga lang ako na puro pawis na yung leeg ko kakasiksik mo. Tapos nalawayan mo na din yung damit ko." Reklamo ko pa.

But truth be told, I am not really complaining. I really like sleeping that close with Ember. It's surprisingly, calming.

"Ac--excuse me?" halos mamilog yung mata nito sa pagtutol kasabay ng mahinang paghampas sa balikat ko. "You were snoring last night. I couldn't even fall a sleep. So if there's someone who could most probably drool her own tops, it will be most likely, you."

"Hey, I don't snore!"

"You were." she snorts. "Last night. You were too loud."

"No, I'm not. I don't snore." I insisted. Trying to prove a point as I took a big bite of my own sandwich, not even caring if my words are incoherent. "I really don't snore."

Ember just raised her brows as if saying whatever, before pulling up a chair infront of me. Kinuha pa nito yung tasa ko ng kape at sumimsim doon. Pagkatapos ay napangiwi na naman.

"Sucks. How could you make a coffee this bad?"

Inosenteng tiningnan ko lang sya at saka inagaw yung tasa ko. Tinikman ko yung iniinom kong kape. Hindi naman ganoon kasama yung lasa. Probably not the usual coffee we're used into getting every morning. But still, not that bad. Especially in this situation that doesn't sits us to be choosy.

"This is actually an instant coffee, your highness." I explained before she goes with the lists on how bad my drink is. "Seems like it didn't pass your highly fed taste buds."

Ngumiwi si Ember. "Uh, No. I'm okay. Water will be fine." tumayo ito at saka kumuha ng tubig nito.

Ako naman ay napilitan na lang din na asikasuhin ito. I know Ember normally gets spasm in the morning so she needs to fill her stomach with something warm before having her breakfast.

Not so sure if Ember will like it, I pulled out the carton box of milk we've found in the fridge yesterday. After filling a cup, I put it on a microwave to warm it up.

"Oh, egg and bread again?" Tila nanlulumong napasubsob na lang ito sa mesa. "We've had that for dinner, Cray. At least you could have prepared us a soup or anything edible to fill our stomachs for the day. We've had a lot of works ahead."

"Don't insult the breakfast I've made." Sinimangutan ko ito bago padabog na ibinaba yung baso nito ng gatas sa harapan nito nang tumunog na yung microwave indikasyon na natapos na yung timer nito. "Warm your stomach with this."

I was glad that Ember seemed to appreciate the milk. Unfortunately, she should seize that glass because we might have run out of stock of it soon.

"Kumain ka na. Marami pa tayong aayusin mamaya sa bahay. Yung locks. Yung water tank di pa natin nakikita kung may enough supply ba. Yung power pwede siguradong ioff natin na muna ngayon tutal maliwanag naman."
