Kokichi Ouma POV
Today is the day. The day has finally come. The day we will finally be let out of this hellhole and enter another one, college.
But it's free, can't complain.
To be honest, which I haven't been my entire life. I will miss this place. I grew an unhealthy attachment to my room and unhealthy habits here and there. But all of it has a purpose.
The pain I suffered. No, the pain I ALLOWED myself to suffer will be a guide. The pain will guide me into becoming a better person.
Anyways, I was packing my clothes, skincare, pills, all like a good little boy until someone came up behind me and almost knocked me out of my wheelchair.
"Hello, Kokichi!" The blue-haired girl with glasses greeted me.
"Oh, hey Tsumugi. You scared me half to death." I chuckled, still putting stuff into bags.
"Need help?" She offered, smiling proudly at me.
"Yep, can you bring those crutches over here, fold them, and put them in that black bag." I commanded her, reminding me of my 'good old days.'
Tsumugi did as I said and spoke up, "Wait, why do you need crutches? Aren't your legs permanently dead? That's the point of the wheelchair."
I looked up at her and she had the most serious face ever, one of her eyebrows shooting through the roof! Possible touching her hairline, hehe.
"Oh, near where we are going to live there's another hospital, basically a mini version of this one. They have walking therapy, I might learn how to walk again!" I cheered and smiled.
"And no my legs aren't permanently dead. The doctors just figured out the possibility to walk for me." I continued, mocking her.
"Ah, I see." She nodded and began helping me with the rest of the stuff.
We finished and she sat on the bed, clearly wanting to start a long conversation.
"Guess who I have as a roommate." Tsumugi giggled.
"I'm assuming it's someone good... Hm... Angie?" I guessed.
"Ah! Correct again! You're on a roll." She praised me.
"Yeah, yeah. Hey, how's it going with trying to get everyone to forgive you. I know it's hard, but I'm always here." I began starting a more dark topic.
"Eh, well... So far all so good I guess..? It's just the survivors and Rantaro who still resent me." She frowned deeply.
"But you do understand it'll be hard to get to them? Don't force yourself to be likable again. Take your time, and have patience. Forgiveness isn't given that easily." I lectured her like I was an old grandpa.
"Hehe, thanks Kokichi. I'm really glad I have a friend like you." She smiled at me.
It was that smile, a smile filled with sadness until someone has touched their hearts. I can't help but feel happy as well.
