Chapter 20: The Mall

Nagito and Hajime switched between questions, one after the other I circled my answer.

After the final one, we were immediately told to share our answers.

So I silently and slowly showed my paper to Shuichi, told by his worried face, we didn't share much of the answers.

In fact, we shared NONE OF THEM besides the first one.

I couldn't believe it, I should of put more thought... Dammit.

But it's whatever, there are more games! We can win this!

...

Yeah... We didn't. Actually, we placed LAST.

But we did tally up the points over 100! Not much of accomplishment when Tsumugi and Kaede aced this game by finishing with 1,000 points.

I was so focused on my lost that I didn't notice Nagito in front of me.

"Kokichi, I know I was rough of you since the morning so I decided to let you come with us to the mall." Nagito smiled at me.

"Hmm.. Sure!" He joyfully accepted, who would miss this opportunity to escape this hell-hole?!

Nagito turned toward Shuchi who sat beside me, "would you like to come with us?" He asked him.

"Uh-erm... Sure!" He stuttered and agreed to the offer.

"Alright, it's settled. I and Hajime will get ready, you guys can wait here. Oh, tell the others they can go back to their rooms now." Mr. Komaeda's ordered.

I did what he asked and waited beside the counter. The counter held snacks like cookies, cupcakes, whatever is sweet.

Despite my sweet tooth, I didn't eat any. Sure, I want to get better but let's start with something else!

Finally, Hajime and Nagito returned with sweaters on. "Okay! We're ready, follow us to the car." Mr. Hinata beamed and we all followed behind him.

I was helped by Nagito here and there, finally, we are on the first floor.

Both Hajime and Nagito told the front lady that we would be going to the mall which she had no problems with.

Continuing the plan, we followed Mr.Hinata and Mr.Komaeda to a black van outside. Now don't worry, it's black, not white and it has windows!

It didn't take long till we arrived at the mall. And let me tell you, it was huuuuuge...

As soon as we took a step into the mall, we each went our own way with a partner. Me and Tsumugi, Hajime and Nagito, and if it wasn't obvious... Kaede and Shuichi.

Throughout the whole time, I wanted to tell Tsumugi the truth. The truth is which I have a tincy wincy crush on Shuichi. This is what friends do right?

So when we got to the food court I decided to tell her.

"Hey Tsumugi" I called out while she was halfway eating a hamburger.

"Hm?" She hummed while chewing.

I looked around to check if the others were around. Obviously, not.

"Uh... I trust you, so I hope you keep this a secret." I expressed how nervous I was while fidgeting with my thumbs.

Tsumugi quickly cleaned her mouth with a napkin and made a serious face, implying she was ready.

"I... Uh.. Have a very very very tiny crush on... Sai-Saihara... It's crazy isn't it?" I laughed nervously.

Immediately, her eyes were bulging out of her face, her mouth hanging wide open. It was like I told her I was pregnant.

She huffed and puffed, finally speaking "I'm so sorry, Kokichi. I was telling you about how I think Kaede and Shuichi would be cute together without considering you might like him! I-I... I'm sorry..." Tsumugi held her face down.

"It's okay! It's okay!" I reassured her.

"Since it wouldn't be fair if I didn't tell you my cru-" I gasped loudly, stopping her sentence.

"YOU HAVE A CRUSH?!" I screamed so loud it probably made an earthquake.

It wasn't like I didn't believe it, I was just surprised she would have a crush on anyone HERE. She's too good for anyone here!

"Sshhh... Yes, I do!" She whispered.

"So? Who is it?" I smirked, putting my face on my hand?

"First we pinky promise we won't tell anyone else our crush..." She extended out her pinky finger.

I wrapped mine around hers and shook it as if it a normal handshake.

"Okay... I-Its.. Hehe..." Tsumugi blushed which distracted her.

"Who?!" I whispered-yelled.

"Angie! It's Angie!" Tsumigi covered her blushing red face.

I giggled like a little kid, "Y'know, I wished we could do this all day." I sighed.

"We can!" Tsumugi pointed out and smiled.

"Huh? What do you mean?" I held a confused face.

"We are going to college next week! I believe that's what I heard from the medical workers." She cheered and made a '🧐' face.

"Huh... But I lost the competition? It would take longer to share a room with Saihara with all the moving and stuff." I confusingly said.

"Oh! Yeah... Maybe you guys will share a DORM room!" She gleamed.

"Lucky you!~" Tsumugi began to tease me.

Oh well... It'll let it pass for now. After all, I'm just happy I have a friend.
