Nat's POV:
It has really been a wild ride over the last few weeks. But, I'm so incredibly thankful that I have this family to come around and save me when it comes to something dangerous as this.
We were on our way back to the compound after that crazy mission in Budapest. Wanda was asleep beside me with her head leaned on my shoulder. I looked around the jet and saw that Vision was the one piloting the jet since most of them are also asleep, I am sure that Melina was unconscious.
I also looked at Yelena sitting beside me, she just woke up because I moved. It was probably her reflex to be ready all the time because she can detect even the slightest movement.
"So, do you have any plans?" I asked her.
"I'm not sure. Before I was taken to the Red Room, I don't really have a past. Or at least somewhere I could go back to. So, maybe, anywhere would do." she replied.
"Don't you want to help the other widows?" I probed.
"I'm pretty sure that part of my life is over. There were a lot of widows that we were able to set free, they can find and free the others too." she responded.
"I see." I said.
"Hey, I have a question." Yelena started. "How were you able to get a hold of Dreykov's drive?" she asked.
"Us widows, you know that we're always one step ahead of anyone. For me, that includes Dreykov. I was able to steal it from him before I was injected with the serum. He wasn't great at securing that thing because he's so confident that no one would ever dare to try." I explained.
"Ah. Of course." she replied.
We finally were able to make it back to the compound. Wanda woke up and stood up from her seat. She smiled at me and offered her hand to help me up too. Everyone else woke up and got off the jet. Steve instructed Vision to carry Melina so she could be brought to the medical section, Maria followed them with Clint helping her since her arm was dislocated.
"Well, I guess this is where I get off." Yelena said, letting us feel that this was her way of saying goodbye.
"Wait," I said, stopping her from her tracks. "You said, that you really don't have anywhere else to go, right? What if you join us?" I offered with a friendly smile.
"Are you for real?" she asked with a sparkle that lit up in her eyes, I then glanced at Steve and Tony to get consent from them.
"Well, you have some skills and we could use a few more hands for the team." Steve said, Tony was beside him nodding in agreement.
"What do say? Want to be a part of the family? An Avenger?" Wanda asked to get a confirmation.
"I would love to." she replied. I could see a tear forming in her left eye that she was trying her best to hold back.
We invited her in the building so we can show her around. But when we entered, Fury was in the living room, waiting for us.
"About damn time." he started as he got up from the couch. "Seeing that Romanoff is alive, Maximoff is apparently in a different suit and you even got yourself a new recruit, I would say that the mission was a success." he implied.
"Why? Are you saying that there was a chance that we would fail?" I asked sarcastically.
"I never doubted you guys." he replied.
"I hope that you are still open for recruits. We got one more as a frontline Avenger and a scientist that could join SHIELD." I declared.
"Like I said before, trouble is always around the corner. We always welcome more who are qualified just so we can make the world a safer place." he said. "Looks like you brought in over qualified recruits anyway." he added.
