Wanda's POV:
These last few days for all of us has been physically and emotionally draining as we all train and create plans with different angles on how we can be ready enough to battle against Thanos. I have also been under a lot of pressure and stress ever since I found out about the truth behind the powers I possess.
"Anything in your mind?" Nat asked me, her voice still husky from sleep.
"A lot." I replied, turning to face her as I wrap my arms around her waist.
She didn't respond but instead, she grabbed the blanket and draped it over our heads. She then scooted closer to me and kissed me on my forehead. It's a simple gesture but it's enough to make me feel butterflies. I'm just grateful to have Natasha at times when I feel scared and weak.
"I love you so much." she whispered.
"I love you to the moon and back." I responded.
"Well, I can't beat that." she teased.
"Oh, but I bet that you can." I smirked.
We got up to get ready for the day. Pietro, Lorna and I had been training nonstop in the last two weeks so we can make use of our powers and so we can collaborate well with each other. Max has been supervising us and educating us more about our powers.
Not everyone in the compound is okay with the idea of Max and Lorna being here, that even includes Pietro. But they know that if we want a chance to win the war, we will need them since the stakes would be higher without them in the team. We make do with what we have at this point.
"Training with them again, I'm guessing?" Nat implied as we made our way to the kitchen.
"Actually, no. I want to work with you today." I replied.
"Really now? Okay, well, I was actually heading to Yelena and Maria so we can do some combat training. Are you up for that?" she invited.
"That would be great, actually. I have been doing a lot of things involving my powers. I could use a day off from this."
She just smiled at me and held my hand so we can both make our way to the training grounds. When we arrived, Yelena and Maria were already there. I was sensing a different vibe from the pair, I knew there was something going on between them before but today felt specifically different. There was some progress and I can feel it.
We have been training for a few hours already and I can honestly say that this is less exhausting than training with my dysfunctional family of mutants. It's nice to forget that I have powers and work on my physical fighting skills because it keeps me going. I can see that it's doing the same for the girls as well.
"Wanda, what the hell?" Lorna grumbled as she barged into the training grounds.
Everyone froze and turned their attention to her.
"Excuse me?" I probed.
"We were waiting for you at the Battlegrounds." she replied.
"Lorna, we have been training together nonstop for the last couple of weeks. I also need to train with my teammates here. I'm not only gonna be fighting with you. We'll all be fighting the same war. So, tell them that I won't be training with you guys today and maybe tomorrow too. Please." I explained.
She just stared at me and let out a heavy sigh before replying, "Ugh. Fine. You do have a point though. I'll run back to them to let them know and I'll come back here after."
"Why?" I asked.
"I wanted to improve my combat skills too. I want to be more than just my powers." she replied and left.
