CHAPTER 16

16.

"No matter what I will not leave her alone. I have to talk with him about today's incident."

"I am sorry. I didn't mean to behave like that. We were just worried for her. We were unknown about all the things that happened 3 years ago." JASON said and I nodded at him.

"I know, you were worried about her as well. And I am sorry for it as well." I pointed at his face.

"It's okay."

"Now, let's talk about today's incident?" JASON asked me. "Who are they? How did they know you?"

I can't say how I know them. I have to talk with him first to make sure about everything. I don't want them to know about it especially ANNIE. I have to keep them away from it until I hear something from him. I thought to myself.

"You know who I am?" I raised my eyebrow and asked him. I tried to change the topic. "I am ANTONIO CARLTON. I am known for both good and bad personalities. So, they knew me. That's it."

I shrugged my shoulder and stood up from the chair. I looked at MICHALE and STEVEN. They nodded and knew what I was trying to say.

"What about your café? Can you all manage it? Or do you want some help?" STEVEN asked them.

"Don't worry. We will manage it." NAELY said to him. "First of all, we have to think about her (pointing at ANNIE). How are we going protect her?"

"Yeah, she is right. We can handle the café. What about her? Today, she knew that every mafia gang is looking for her. After today's incident, we can't take any risk." ZARA said looking at everyone.

I looked at her. Most of the wounds were healed. But the wound that is still in her heart and mind is not healed yet. It is still like a nightmare to her. 

I went toward her and sat down on the chair beside the bed. I interlaced our hand.

I know it's really hard for you to remember all. You are hurt from inside and you were not able to share it with anyone.

I lowered my head and placed my forehead on her hands.

I feel like we both have some connection. Like there is something that is pulling me towards you. I don't know whether it is destiny or not. But the feeling that is growing in me is different than that I feel for others.

Besides that, there are a lot of things that I want to know from you. You are the only one who can answer all the questions. You know something related to me and you. Now, you are like a mystery in my life.

"How can we trust you?" JASON stood beside me.

"What do you mean?"

"From what we hear all the time, you are not that kind of person who will help others. All we know is you are a heartless and rude businessman." He narrowed his eyes and looked at me.

"Everything you hear from the media is not true, they can make up the real story. " MICHALE said looking at him.

"Sometimes it can be true. Everyone has seen you." ZARA said looking at me.

I shook my head and ignored them. I have heard many such things. It will not affect me. Now, all I have to do is focus on her and talk with him.

"How can we trust you? You met ANNIE 3 years ago and now you want to protect her. Why?" NAELY asked me.

"What do you want from her? Even today, those people knew you." ZARA narrowed her eyes. "What is your relation with them? Who is this boss?"
