Theodore, or Teddy as Ravenna liked to call him, carried more on his shoulders than he'd ever let anyone see. He lost his mother very young, to an unknown sickness that couldn't be healed. He never really knew his mom, she passed away not long after he was born. Theodore couldn't help but blame himself for that, he never knew why, but it felt like his fault.

Teddy never remembered much of his mother, except for the day she died. He memorized every detail of that day, and whether he liked it or not, he couldn't seem to forget it. As he got older, he saw that day in his nightmares, turning the escape that sleep once used to be into a proverbial purgatory.

His years at Hogwarts went by quietly and alone. He felt alienated by the other Slytherins, who called him a freak because he could see Thestrals, while the others could not. So he shut it out. He shut out all of the things that made him seem odd, and stayed quiet. He found calm in his mother's study, reading every book he could get his hands on.

The day he met Ravenna might've been the best day of his life. He met someone who he felt comfortable with. Ravenna accepted and encouraged all of the unique quirks and broken pieces of Theodore's personality that he saw as odd, and weird.

He told her about his mother, his less-than-progressive father, and the intense self-hatred that weighed him down. He poured everything out to her. He feared that one day she'd change her mind and see him as a freak, just like everyone else. But she stayed with him.

Maybe it was because she had problems of her own, but he never hesitated to help. He took all of the tortured, broken parts of her life, and loved her anyway. He took care of her.
