"Well, that was awful." [][][][]
"Did you put up the tent?" Ravenna asked while looking at Teddy, her left hand wrapped tightly around the huge sword.
Theodore's was wrapped on his own weapon, which was a simple bow and a single arrow in the other.
Mattheo listened to their conversation as his axe swung straight into a tree — dead onto the target.
They figured they all had to play to their strengths when it came to picking a weapon, now was the time to choose.
Matthoe was strong, his ability to fight with his hands was impressive but wouldn't keep him alive; he was handsy and aggressive when it came to fighting. That's why the axe was the best choice, he could grab almost anywhere on the instrument without cutting his hand open. The layout of the tool made sense for him, he could use his strength and it would cut through anything from the blunt force.
Theodore thought the bow and arrow was best for him. He wasn't good at close combat; Theodore didn't really know that for sure, but he figured he'd rather keep it that way. The weapons Mattheo and Ravenna had were close-combat tools, which meant that they were more likely to get hurt. Theodore needed to be ready with either a spell to fix them up, or an arrow to shoot at whatever was trying to cause them harm.
And then there was Ravenna. Ravenna took a while to choose something that made sense for her. She loved knives, but they were too little and therefore impractical. Mattheo wanted her to use a tool similar to the bow and arrow, that way she wouldn't have to get close to the awful creature. But he knew he couldn't change her mind once she decided she wanted the sword.
It made the most sense for her, she had gotten stronger ever since her cuts started to heal and she'd actually started eating meals. Additionally, she was the only one with the grace required to not stab oneself while using something so dangerous.
"It's finally up — it's quite nice actually, there's two partially-separated bedrooms, with a living room and a kitchen, even a bathroom." Theodore said, walking up to them.
"Don't ask me where the sewer goes because I have no idea." He added.
Mattheo's mind was elsewhere, he was too focused on sharping the edge of the axe, watching the already sharp tool become more precise.
Ravenna watched as her best friend looked at the arrow in his hands, "Know how to use that thing?" She asked with a smile.
The boy scoffed, he drew his hand back watching as the twine stretched, his eyes on his target, a small, purple-colored fig hanging off a branch of a Ficus carica tree.
He took a deep breath, holding it for a moment before letting his hand go, watching as the arrow left the bow, as if in slow motion.
