when brooke arrived home, she walked into her apartment and closed the door, sliding down afterwards.

she sat there, her hands covering her face, for a few minutes before getting up. she lazily threw her purse on the kitchen counter and went straight to her couch to watch netflix.

she put on a random movie but all she could think about was how she treated niki. she brushed it off and tried to find a way to victimize herself.

she was being selfish. she thought, because niki had came with another girl that she deserved to be ignored and seen as the bad guy by brooke.

though, none of this was niki's fault at all. niki didn't even know why brooke was mad. but she decided to leave her be all together.

they continued to not speak for another month. wilbur would knock on brooke's door sometimes, just to check in on her but she would never answer.

brooke didn't want to talk to anyone. she was sad, mad — furious. after a month, it had finally hit her that she was the shitty one, not niki.

she didn't want to admit it but she was a complete ass. she terribly wanted to apologize to the girl but she didn't think niki would accept it. I mean, she did ignore her for a month and was mad at her for no reason.

brooke had went to drinking as a way to escape her problems and regrets. she would drink a full glass of wine every night and stumble around her apartment, knocking things over again and again.

the neighbors were ultimately concerned but decided to not do anything. they all knew what had happened and why she was acting this way.

one night, brooke had just finished a full glass of red wine and she was fully drunk. it was a bad night for her. all she could think about was niki. how they almost kissed that night on the ferris wheel, how niki was always there for her and how brooke treated her.

brooke, being very drunk, decided to stumble over to niki and wilbur's apartment to apologize. one side of her brain told her that was an awful idea but the other thought she should go through with it.

she listened to the other side of her brain and left her safe apartment, making her way to niki's.

she lousily knocked on her door, losing balance a couple times and stumbling before wilbur answered.

"wilbur! is niki here?" brooke asked as she stumbled into their apartment, almost falling over completely but grabbing a hold of their marble counter instead.

"are you drunk?" wilbur asked, concern written all over his face.

"maybe a little." brooke said with a smile as she made her way to niki's room. when she opened the door, niki was on her bed, scrolling through her phone.

"brooke?" niki asked. she was confused, of course, but you could hear a tint of excitement in her voice. that was until she smelled the alcohol from brooke's breath.

"brooke..." she said, more quiet, as she sat brooke down on her bed.

"niki. niki i'm so sorry." brooke slurred and stumbled over her words, trying her best to apologize to the girl she loved.

she hadn't realized it yet, but she was. she was in love with the girl in front of her. she knew she liked her, but love?

she thought she didn't know what love was, but she was feeling it at that very moment. staring into niki's eyes. niki's tear-filled eyes.

"hey, it's okay." niki said in response, trying to calm the drunk girl.

"it's not okay. i'm sorry." brooke repeated, beginning to cry as she latched onto niki. "I love you niki."

niki froze at those four words. did she just admit her love for her? how was she supposed to respond? she can't take advantage of her.

brooke noticed how silent it went, causing her to look up at the girl. the girl who no longer had pink hair, but instead, it was blonde. the girl with blonde hair.

"your hair." she pointed out, touching a strand in awe before looking back at her face. at her lips.

brooke leaned in, aiming for her lips before niki scooted back. brooke looked at her in shock. did she just reject her?

"I can't take advantage of you brooke, i'm sorry." niki apologized before getting up. "i'll get will to make dinner, and you can stay however long you want."

then, niki left the room completely, leaving brooke sitting on her bed. a tear rolled down both of their cheeks.

brooke groaned, furious at herself for trying. niki sighed slightly, keeping her back on the door before walking away, regretting her decision.
