Lately you and Isabelle had been fighting non stop it felt like.
It had all started out with you being annoyed that she had been flirting with Meliorn to learn about the seelie queens plans.
You knew you shouldn't have blown up about it, but given the fact that she had a past with Meliorn you just couldn't help it.
And since then the two of you had been fighting over the tiniest things and you just couldn't take it anymore.
You stared at Isabelle where she stood on the other side of the room staring at you, her hands planted on her hips and her nostrils flaring as she boiled with anger.
"I just can't do this, I'm leaving" you said before you turned and ran out the door.
Isabelle watched the door slam shut behind you, and felt her shoulders slump as her hands fell off from her hips, and hanged limp by her sides.
She stared at the closed door and immediately felt all the anger inside her disappear, just to be overwhelmed with sadness and hopelessness.
The constant fighting had taken a toll on her and she knew that you were not even happy when you were with her anymore.
It was evident that these fights wouldn't just stop suddenly, there was some underlying cause, and Isabelle just couldn't bear to see you this unhappy.
She felt tears spring up in her eyes when she realized what this meant.
For you to have a chance at happiness she had to let you go, even if she didn't want it she had to do what would be best for you, for the both of you.
....
You were sitting on a bench in the gardens at the roof of the institute, staring at the flowers that were just beginning to bloom.
Your cheeks were stinging from the dried up tears that had fallen from your eyes.
You turned your head to the sound when you heard the sound of heels against the stone floor. You turned your head back to the flowers when you saw Isabelles form emerge from the dark.
She stopped by the bench and you could feel her gaze on you.
"Can I sit?" She asked a bit hesitantly.
You nodded your head and scooted over so that she could sit down.
"[Y/N], we have to talk" she said.
You sighed as you turned to look at her.
"I'm not in the mood to fight"
"That's not what I wanna talk about" she said, suddenly somber.
You searched her eyes, suddenly worried.
"You're unhappy" Isabelle stated simply.
"What-"
"Let me finish" Isabelle said cutting you off.
"We've been fighting constantly over the tiniest of things, and I can tell that it's been making you unhappy, and that i'm contributing to that"
"Isabelle what are you trying to say?" You said, your eyes darting back and forth trying to capture hers, but Isabelle looked down at her hands.
"We need to break up"
"What, no" you exclaimed as you stood up from the bench and stared down at her in disbelief.
"[Y/N]" it's what's for the best. I'm sorry" Isabelle said before she stood up from the bench and walked away, leaving you standing there alone and in disbelief.
Isabelle could feel herself break inside when she heard you call her name as she walked away.
She squeezed her eyes shut as tears welled up in her eyes.
Oh, how bad she wanted to just turn around and run back into your arms, but she knew that nothing would change and you would be just as happy as before.
For you to be happy, she had to leave.
A/N
