After everything that had gone down with first Valentine and then Jonathan, you and your friends truly deserved a well earned break.

And what better way to do that then to hold a Christmas party on Christmas Eve to celebrate.

You showed up to the designated area in the institute, showing off all your beautiful curves in a red dress. You walked in and glanced around the room, admiring all the decorations that must have taken Izzy hours to set up.

"[Y/N], hi!" You heard a voice call out and you looked to your left to see your group of friends gathered around a punch bowl.

You smiled and gave them a small wave as you headed over to them, immediately being handed a drink by Izzy.

She grabbed you by the arm and quickly guided you away from your friends before you had the chance to object.

"So are you finally going to do it?" She asked, excitement written across her face.

"Do what?" You asked as you took a sip of your drink.

"Tell Clary you're in love with her" she said as if it was the most obvious thing in the world.

You choked on your drink, and coughed as you tried to regain your breath. "Izzy!" You wheezed as you looked around the room to make sure no one had heard her comment.

"You said you'd tell her after everything with Jonathan had blown over, and it has" your best friend said as she searched your eyes.

You looked down at the cup in your hand and sighed. "I don't want to ruin our friendship if she doesn't feel the same way"

"You'll never know if you decide not to" Izzy said as she reached out to give your free hand a comforting squeeze.

You looked up at her and saw her flash you a smile before she headed off to Simon.

.....

You had been trying to work up the courage to tell Clary how you felt all night, but every time you had laid eyes on her you had chickened out.

So here you were, leaning up against the doorframe, staring blankly ahead as you tried to make sense of what to do.

"Are you not in the Christmas spirit, you've been avoiding everyone all night" you turned your head sideways when you hear a soft voice, you heart beat speeding up when you spotted Clary standing beside you.

"Eh, I, I just have a lot on my mind" you stammered out, suddenly feeling your throat dry up.

Clary leaned up against the doorframe next to you, her gaze fixated on your group of friends.

"I understand, it just feels so weird for life to be going back to normal after all we've been through, you know" she said as she looked over at you.

You nodded your head.

"Well, I will leave you to your thoughts, merry Christmas" Clary said with a smile before she turned to walk away over to the others.

Without really thinking your actions through, you reached out and grabbed a hold of her wrist.

Clary turned back around to look at you with a confused expression.

You immediately let go off her wrist.

"I haven't been thinking about everything being over" you began speaking, red flags going up in your mind as you realized you were actually doing this.

Clary looked at you, encouraging you to go on.

"I've been thinking of you"

"Me?"

"I like you Clary, like a lot, and I told myself I would tell you when everything's calmed down, but now I'm just scared I'm dying our friendship an-"

Before you had the chance to finish speaking Clary silenced you by pressing her lips against yours.

Your eyes widened in shock but when you registered what was actually happening you wrapped your arms around Clary's waist to bring her closer to you.

Her hands slowly came up to rest on your shoulders and felt her smile into the kiss before you both parted for air.

You looked at the red head with a dazed look, which made her giggle a little before she tilted her head back and looked up above the two of you.

You followed her gaze and saw a mistletoe hanging from the beam above you.

You turned your gaze back to the her when she began to speak.

"You haven't ruined anything, I'm happy you confessed so I didn't have to" she said, her eyes searching yours as her thumb brushed across your lower lip.

You inhaled sharply at the sensation and smiled widely before you pulled her closer to you by the waist and connected your lips once more.

As the kiss deepened and Clary's arms wound around your neck you could hear cheers erupting from your friends.

"I knew you could do it" you heard Izzy call out.

You relished in the feeling of having Clary in your arms, feeling happier than ever before that you built your the guts to tell her how you feel.
