How you met
After a long day of fruitless efforts of trying to get Magnus Bane to accept you as his apprentice you were not in your best mood. You were walking along the streets of New York towards a bar you had heard a couple of werewolves talking about. Supposedly it was a downworlder bar.
You arrived at your destination and walked inside, laughter and loud chatting immediately filling your ears as the door closed behind you. Warlocks walked by showing off their true selves whilst vampires sat by the bar shotting glasses of blood.
It was nice to see downworlders being able to be themselves, and you smiled despite your sour mood. In your hometown there had only been a handful of vampires and warlocks but here the place was packed.
You maneuvered yourself over to the bar and slumped down on a barstool. Fatigue immediately spread through your body and you realised how tired you actually were as you rested your forehead against the cool surface of the bar.
You looked up however when you could hear the sound of a glass sliding across the wooden surface towards you. It bumped into your hand just as you looked up, and saw a glass of gin and tonic in front of you.
You raised your gaze even further and saw a beautiful woman looking at you with a smile on her lips.
"It's on the house, it looked like you needed it" she said and nodded towards the glass.
You sat up straight and reached for the glass, as a tired smile spread across your features. "Thank you"
"Ah, don't mention it" she said as she began to dry off some wine glasses with the towel she had slung over her shoulder. "You just moved here right, I haven't seen you before"
"Yeah, just got here yesterday" you said as you raised the glass up to your lips.
You took a small gulp and sighed as the cold liquid travelled down your throat.
"Well, this is our local watering hole, almost all downworlders come here at least once a week" she said as she gestured with her hands around the crowded bar.
"Even Magnus Bane?" You asked, your interest instantly perked.
The girl smiled as she nodded her head. "So you're [Y/N]"
"Yeah?" You responded a bit confused.
"You've already grown a bit of a reputation around here, heard some couple of warlocks talking about how you've been trying to get Magnus Bane to take you in as an apprentice" she explained as she dried off the last of her wine glasses and slung her towel over her shoulder.
Your eyes widened slightly and you looked over your shoulder to see a group of guys a few tables away quickly avert their eyes. "Oh god" you mumbled as you turned back around to face the bartender.
