You had to leave.
You had to leave and leave Alec behind because his parents had you transferred to the Singapore institute.
You had closed the door to Maryse office behind you, still trying to process what you had just been told.
It was evident why she had decided to do this, she didn't want Alec to be involved with you because you weren't good enough in her eyes.
She was okay with it when the two of you started dating a year ago because she assumed it wouldn't last, but when the break up she thought would happen never took place she must have felt she needed to take matters into her own hands.
You walked up the stairs towards your room, and when you opened the door you saw Alec splayed out on your bed, looking over some papers.
"Hi, what did my mum wa-" he stopped talking immediately when he saw tears well up in your eyes.
He stood up from the bed and hurried over to you, his hands gripping your forearms as he tried to capture your gaze.
"She's sending me away" you said as you looked up at him.
Alec just stared at you in utter confusion. "What do you mean she's sending you away"
"I'm being transferred to the Singapore institute, she doesn't want me in your life and this is the only way to make sure I'm not anymore"
Alec's hands dropped to his sides and you could see him trying to come up with some solution in his head.
"Don't bother, there's nothing you can say that will make her change her mind" you said as you sat down in the bed, accepting fate.
"I'll come with you"
You smiled sadly. "Don't be stupid, you're so close to getting a promotion here, you can't just leave all of that behind to be with me"
Alec walked over to where you were sitting on the edge of the bed and crouched down so he was in eye level with you.
"[Y/N], I don't think you understand how madly in love with you I am, and I'm going to marry you one day. So I'm not going to let you walk out of my life, that's not going to happen"
You looked at the man in shock, too stunned to speak.
Alec was not one to often speak about his feelings, he expressed his love for you in other ways.
"Bu-"
"No, buts" Alec cut you off as he placed his palm against your cheek. "If she's sending you away I'm coming with you"
You smiled through your tears as your wrapped your arms around him, burying your face in the crock of his neck.
Alec wrapped his strong arms around your waist and pulled you as close to him as physically possible. He rested his chin against the top of your head and placed a chaste kiss there.
"I guess we gotta go pack then" he suddenly said, making you laugh.
