Chapter Nine
Hours later, she said goodbye to Pandora and Salem; hugging them both before exiting the huge castle. Taking a few steps away from the front door, and pulled out a large neon ball. With a little grin, tossed it high into the air. It exploded with a bright neon green light as silver and blue glitter exploded, raining down. Five minutes later the dragon walked around the corner.
"Did you like the light ball?"
"I thought it was interesting, but Kadrid wants to know if you can make a purple and pink one for her."
"For her, yes but it may take a few days."
"May I go tell her?"
"Yes, go on but hurry."
Soranto nodded, taking off quickly. Once he left she began to giggle. The poor dragon had no idea what was happening to him. He was falling in love with Kadrid and didn't even see it coming. Of course, she was more than happy for him. Knowing him for a long time, this was the first dragon she'd ever seen him care about. She adored Kadrid, It also helped being good friends with her keeper, Salem. Waiting another five minutes, the dragon had returned.
"Ready to get moving on?"
"Sure."
Climbing up one side of him, positioning herself in the center of his back; waited the four seconds before he took off. The dragon bolted through the skies, passing over the waterfall, and the small mountain range behind it. He proceeded onward, passing over miles and miles of forest terrain. He dipped in and out of the clouds, every few miles increasing speed. At this rate, he might get them home just a little sooner.
By the time she nagged him into stopping for at least a cat nap, he'd flown them much further than usual, she feared he may pass out in mid flight. She'd argued with him until he finally agreed to thirty minutes but not a split second longer. Landing and then finding a nice tree to sleep near; he curled into a ball and drifted off. Glancing around the forest, soaking up the serene feeling it had given her; then walked a few feet away from the dragon and let him rest. Sitting down, getting lost in her own thoughts for the next twenty-seven minutes. She began to think of getting home, back to her responsibilities; preferably back to her office and favorite chair. She wondered how things went with the apprentice in her absence. They weren't that far away now; forty minutes from her front door. A few minutes later she heard the dragon wake and slowly walk over to her.
"Did you get enough rest?'
"Yes, you ready to go home, now?"
Nodding and then climbing up, waiting a few seconds for him to leap up and speed off into the air. He flew like the wind, relieved it wasn't a huge adventure. He didn't always mind but he didn't trust vampires, demons or hell spawn of any kind. He increased speed, knowing they'd be home, not off saving something far away. He'd flown in a type of tunnel flight vision until thirty minutes later, he landed in front of her castle.
She climbed down quickly and turned to him. "Thank you for all of your assistance,"
"Always." He replied, then went straight to his cave.
