Chapter Thirteen
Sitting there having drinks with good friends, thinking over the rescue mission in the underworld, she turned to the hybrid.
"If you haven't heard from your father in another week, come back, I'll try to help."
Then, she added; "If they're in the middle of rescuing her, I don't want to get them caught."
"That's a good point, I hadn't thought of that."
"I do love these visits, but we should return soon."
"Would you like another cup before you go?"
The three of them talked over coffee for the next half hour, then Pandora hugged her goodbye; before they headed back to their home.
Leaning back in the chair, stretching a moment, grabbing a spellbook. Hesitating, waiting a few minutes, then she slowly opened it up. Shifting her weight from one side to the other, letting out a deep calming breath, she began. Carefully writing out first, the issue with the vampires, who they were, her over all impression of them. Then a few strange spells and invocations that had been rattling around in her mind. Getting up, grabbing a bottle of wine and a small goblet. Needing to calm her soul, the thought of going to the underworld nearly put her into shock. She prayed that Spencer would rescue her and everything would be just fine, as she popped the cork and poured the first well deserved glass.
Even though her nerves were on edge, trying not to panic. If Salem needed help it would be a week from now; not at the next sunrise. Writing out a little more before closing the book and sipping the drink. She wanted to think about anything else except vampires, demons or the ill fated possibility of going to the underworld. Once the first glass had been depleted, she poured another. Fifteen minutes later, her nerves were a little less frayed. After a few minutes of reflection, she rang for the girl. It never took long, six minutes later the girl knocked.
"Come in."
Cracking the door open slowly, peeking into the office; "You needed me miss?"
"Yes, come and sit down, please."
Walking over, quickly getting seated.
"Care for a glass?" She said, holding up the wine bottle.
"Sure."
Nodding, then pouring a glass and handing it over to her.
"How's the studying?"
"I think it's going better."
"Great to hear. Thanks for joining me... I think I need to get my mind off being Empress for a few hours."
"I can imagine needing a break some of the time."
