    Chapter Fifteen

After two and a half cups, pulling down a few of the huge books; she began to go through them. With luck maybe she wouldn't find anything too hideous. When someone did show up, she'd help them and quickly get back to researching dark magick. At one point during this whole vampire mess, she considered asking the warlocks, but decided against it. No sense in putting anymore in danger. There were enough at risk as it is. She had an over powering feeling that they wouldn't hear from the vampires, there would be a trip to the underworld involved. Trying as hard as possible not to dwell on it, but her thoughts kept going back; like a spell gone wrong. She also knew stressing out over it wasn't helping anything, either. Lost in her thoughts, she didn't hear the servant girl come in. The girl cleared her throat and startled the Empress spun around.

"I'm so so sorry miss, I didn't mean to spook you."

"Oh I know.. Was there something of importance?"

"To me, yes."

"What?"

"It's almost sundown and you've spent the day in the dungeon, I want to make sure you're ok."

"How kind of you. I'm fine, nervous about a few things."

"The vampires?"

"Not exactly."

"What is it?" She asked, then after no response, added; "You know it's okay for you to ask for help, too."

"I'm nervous about the underworld, not the vampires."

"You've battled dark creatures before and prevailed."

"I've battled a dark fairy, not an infinite number of dark souls, demons or their leader."

Ambrosia gave her a look of pity, then rang for the butler. Instructing him to bring another pot and an extra mug, the Empress looked up.

"Thank you."

"I'll sit and help you prepare for it anyway that I can."

Ten minutes later the butler returned, the two of them had a fresh mug and then got right down to work.
