Chapter 41

"M-mom...What are you doing here?"

This is actually the first time that my mom visited me... Why is she here?

"Do I need a reason to be here? You're my daughter, of course I should visit you." she said matter-of-factly as she entered my apartment.

"But... you didn't visit me for months, like, ever since I moved here." I said, but I sounded like I was complaining.

She sat on the sofa and crossed her arms, "Hmm... Your mom visited you all the way from Korea and that's how you greet her?"

I smiled, whatever, "Sorry mom." I immediately sat beside her and put my arm on her shoulder, "What do you want? Do you want coffee?"

She smiled at me, "No, it's fine. I just want to rest first."

"Okay... Just rest in my room, and I'll wake you up once I've cooked the food."

She stood up and let out a deep breath, "You really look mature now, Shinhye-ya. I was only away from you for a few months and now look at you..."

I looked at her, and she was looking at me with her ever-sincere eyes... I really missed her.

Before she entered my room, she blurted out, "Let's talk later."

After an hour, I finished cooking and my mom woke up.

We ate in silence, but she broke the ice first.

"When are you going back to Korea?" she asked.

I smiled at her, "I don't know..." I've actually thought about going home... But I'm scared... That I might see him again. The thought of that, is just making my stomach twist, like there's a zoo inside of it... It just reminds me of the mistake I made, I'm a coward...

"Just go back when you're ready. You can come home anytime." she said before taking another spoonful of rice.

"I'll think about it. Maybe next year."

She scrunched her face as if she didn't like my answer, "Next year? Isn't it a bit too long?"

I grinned, "I thought you said I can come home anytime? I wanna live independently for now, mom."

My mom sighed, "Fine, if that's what you want... We'll wait for you."

"Thanks mom..."

"Shinhye-ya..."

"Yes, mom?"

"What..." She looked hesitant at first, but she asked anyway, "What  about Yonghwa?"

I stayed silent for a few seconds before answering her. "I don't know. What about him?"

My mom suddenly grabbed and held my hand, "You should go back to him"

I bitterl smiled and pulled my hand back, "I bet he's mad."

She shook her head, and I think my heart skipped a beat because of what she said.

"He's still waiting for you."
