Karimah's POV

"Kai ga ta can!(Hey, there she is!) Kari!" I heard Aunty Raliyah yell.

I looked around but I couldn't see her at all.

Soon, Amir came into view and sighed, "Are you blind, neh? See her there!" He furiously pointed at Aunty Raliyah.

I turned to Salma who seemed to be staring at Amir.

"Toh, until we meet again, Salma." I said bringing her back to reality.

She smiled at me then pulled me into a hug, "It was nice meeting you, till next time."

I nodded and pulled away before following Amir as he led me to the car where Aunty Raliyah stood.

"Aunty Raliyah, Ina wuni(Good evening)" I greeted her, crouching down just a bit.

She patted my head and brought me up to hug me, "Sanu(Fine) Karimah."

We then went into the car while Amir took my luggage and put it in the boot.

"Kinsan Amir ma Nile ya ke?(Did you know that Amir attends Nile too?)" Aunty Raliyah said.

I laughed, "Ikon Allah."

She said to Amir, "Amir, you will show her around, Koh?"

"Toh." Is all he mumbled.

"Kai da wannan attitude naka(You and this your attitude). You better drop it." She hissed.

I smirked as I saw him roll his eyes through the rearview mirror.

Should I snitch on him?

Probably not.

We arrived at their house in no time and went inside.

Amir showed me to a room and I took my bath and performed ablution before dressing up then praying right after.

I was a bit hungry so I went out of the room to get food. The room across from mine seemed to be Amir's since I could standing inside through the slightly open door.

I decided to go in.

"Amir," I called as I came in.

He snapped his head to me, sitting up right before asking in a slightly rude tone, "What are you doing here?"

"I'm hungry and I don't know the way to the kitchen." I answered.

It was partially true.

"Look around, you'll find it eventually." He said turning to go back to what he was doing.

"Haba mana(Come on)..." I pouted.

"Inalillahi(Oh God), I don't like it when people come into my room to disturb me, fah" He hissed.

I waited for him to give in.

His shoulders slouched, "Toh, let's just go."

I smiled and waited till he went out before following closely behind him.

We got to the kitchen and Aunty Raliyah was already cooking there.

She turned and noticed us immediately, "Yawa(Right), I was even just about to call you down. You two should go and set the dining table."

I nodded ready to go when I noticed that Amir was being hesitant. I grinned and pulled him along with me.

He snatched his arm from my grasp and walked past me.

So arrogant.

I mean, wasn't he happy that he finally wasn't the only child in this house? I could keep him company.

In absolute silence, we set the table before I went into the kitchen to get the food.

Once everything was ready, we got seated and began to eat.

"What course are you studying, Karimah?" Aunty Raliyah asked.

"Business Administration, Aunty." I responded.

She smiled, "That's good."

I glanced over at Amir, "Kai Fah?(And you?)"

He pretended not to hear me.

"Dan Allah, rabu dashi(Please, ignore him). Accountancy ne(It's Accountancy)." Aunty Raliyah said to me.

I nodded, "Very nice."

"I'm done." Amir muttered as he dropped his cutlery and walked off.

She shrugged, "Maybe ma ze je yayi Sallah ne(Maybe he's going to pray)."

"I should go and pray too, it's time anyway." I said finishing up my food before leaving.

I went up to my new room and performed ablution before praying.

After a while, I decided to chat with my new friend, Salma.

Me: Salma, Sanu fa. Have you gotten home yet?

...

Salma: Yes oh, I'm so happy to have met my family.

Me: Ah, Good for you. Here I am with my cousin being a jerk.

Salma: Is he the same guy that came to pick you up?

Me: Yes.

Salma: Aiko ya zama crush ina(Well then, he's now my crush)

Me: Toh, I will tell him for you.

Me: Funny enough, he's in Nile too.

Salma: What?! Karimah, you have to hook us up. Do you have his number?

Me: Ina fah(Not at all). It's like you don't know Amir, he's very arrogant oh.

Salma: Toh shikenan(Alright then). I will meet him at Campus myself.

Me: Yeah, Good luck with that.

The door opened and Amir's head peered into the room.

"Oh, you're back?"

He rolled his eyes, "Baba is home. You should come downstairs if you want to see him."

I nodded and he left.

I texted Salma.

Me: We'll talk later.

I went downstairs at once to greet Baba Tukur.

Upon stepping into the living room, I found him seated on the couch.

I went and crouched in front of him, "Baba Tukur, Ina wuni(Good Afternoon)."

"Oh Karimah, sanu fa. Ya gida, ya Iyali(How is your family)? Ina fatan kin baro su lafiya(I'm hoping you left them safe)" He said.

I nodded, "Lafiya kalau(Very fine), Baba."

"Toh, Toh, Sanu ko? Welcome to Abuja."

I smiled, "Nagode(Thank you)."

With that, I stood up and left.

I went back to my room and kept myself busy by arranging my clothes and other stuffs I brought along with me.

As if on cue, the Isha prayer was called just as I finished and I prayed before going to bed at last.
