"Yanzun haka Kuna Hanya?!" I exclaimed.

"Eh! I've missed you so much so I decided I couldn't wait any longer. I'm coming to stay for at least a month, with your brother of course." Ummi said.

"Toh, Allah ya kawo ku lafiya. Wait, is Baba coming too?" I asked her.

"Toh, that I don't know but I don't think he will. He didn't seem interested." She told me.

"Okay, just come safely. Tell Yusufa I can't wait to see him." I said before hanging up.

I got up from my bed and slipped my flats on, ready to go to work when I heard my phone ring.

It was Khalil.

"What's up?" I said as I walked out of my room.

"I was wondering if you were free today." He said.

"Oh, I'm sorry but I'm not. However, I'll be leaving work by 5:00pm today so maybe we could meet then?" I suggested.

"Yeah. I'll come pick you up." He told me.

I smiled, "No problem."

He ended the call and I went into the Uber car I had called.

I was already late so I didn't waste any time when rushing into the elevator as I arrived.

Soon, the elevator opened and I scurried over to my desk and sat down behind it.

Just then, a beautiful woman strutted towards my desk and lazily leaned against it as she reached.

I had to fight my urge to eye her.

"Yes miss, can I help you?" I asked her, trying my best to be polite.

Look, I'm not being mean for no reason. I've only had one glance at this woman and I already know what she's here for. Unfortunately for her, I don't smile at such.

"I'm here to see my Musty." She said.

Oh of course, she's just who I thought she was.

"I'm sorry but you can't see him if you don't have an appointment with him." I said to her.

She tutted, "Listen up brat, don't you dare give me an attitude. I'm going in there to see my Musty and you're not going to stop me from doing so."

I smirked, "Oh really?"

I was done pretending.

I simply walked towards his door and knocked on it.

"Come in." Mustapha's voice called out and I looked at her briefly before going into the office.

"Sir, there's a lady here to see you." I said to him.

"And what is she here for?" He questioned not looking away from his computer screen.

"I'm not sure but-"

I'm suddenly shoved out of the way and my body crashed against the hard wall.

I looked up to see that lady.

Oh God, I wanted to rip her head off her body!

"Jennifer?" Mustapha gave her a questioning look as he noticed her.

She smiled, "Hi Musty! I came to see you, you haven't called for days and I got worried!"

When he didn't say anything, she went on with her chatter as she approached him, "Oh my Musty, you look so stressed. What do you say we go out and just have a little fun?"

Then she touched him and that's when he flipped.

"Get out." He said calmly but in a very, very scary and serious tone.

The idiot cackled, "Musty! You're so adorable sometimes. I know you're happy to see me so stop pre-"

"Get out of my office before I call the security on you!" He snapped.

She jumped, clearly startled by his sudden outburst. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't startled myself.

"Mustapha. I can't believe you, how can I come all the way here and you treat me like this? This is absolutely unfair!" She whined.

"Are you still here?" Is all he asked and that was enough to usher her out of the room.

She sent me a death glare before walking past me and going out of the room.

As she shut the door, my eyes trailed to Mustapha and I could see that he was very upset at that so I decided it was best to excuse him.

I turned to leave.

"Stay. I never asked you to leave."

I stopped in my tracks and whirled around just as I heard that.

"You seemed upset so I just-"

"Come." He beckoned.

I nodded and took long strides towards his desk.

"Sit." He instructed, nodding towards the one of the two chairs positioned at the opposite side of his desk.

I sat facing him.

"Aren't you curious?" He questioned.

My brow arched high, "About what?"

"Who that lady was or why I acted that way?"

Oh, I do have a lot of questions flooding my mind concerning that but I just don't feel comfortable questioning you.

Plus,

"It's none of my business." I simply stated out loud.

He grinned, "So you don't care?"

"To put in a more polite way, It's not something I should care about." I corrected.

His grin grew wider, "Hm, I like you."

I cleared my throat uncomfortably but didn't dare utter a single word.

I wanted to ask why but I didn't want an answer that would make me nervous.

The thought of it even made me nervous.

"Okay, I know I'm weird but I'm just trying to socialize with you. You don't have to act all professional around me, we started off as friends, remember?" He told me.

Not exactly friends but okay...

"Can you do that?" He asked.

I nodded.

"Good. Now, to make this whole thing less awkward...I suggest we go out for dinner." He offered.

Shoot, I'm supposed to hang out with Khalil after work.

"What do you say? After work?"

I sighed, "I'm sorry but I actually have other plans tonight. Maybe another time."

"Oh." Is all he said.

I could've sworn that I saw a glint of disappointment flash through his eyes just then.

"No worries, there's always a tomorrow." He sounded down.

"Right..."

"Okay then, you can leave now." He dismissed.

I nodded and stood up.

Without looking at me, he added, "And you can leave now if you want."
