"I went out with Amir yesterday." Salma told me as we got seated on a table.

I picked up the menu and replied, "Yeah, He told me."

"Oh,"

I scanned through it briskly, before looking up at Salma, "Oya, fill me in on the details."

"Actually...it wasn't really fun. We played games and all but...Amir wasn't talking much so nothing really happened." She narrated to me.

I sighed, "And he asked you out himself?"

"Yeah, he was like 'let's go out, you choose the venue' and I chose Silverbird." She shrugged.

"I really can't understand Amir sometimes." I muttered.

She smiled, "Me neither but I'm not giving up on him. He asked me out and we went out so I guess that's something."

I nodded, "Yup."

The waiter soon arrived at our table. Salma ordered and I just went with her own order since I couldn't choose one for myself.

As the waiter left, I heard the notification ring of my phone and took it out of my purse.

It was a text, from the Unknown number from yesterday.

"Mmhm, I even forgot to gist you. This random guy started texting me yesterday, claiming he got my number from a friend. I asked who but he refused to tell me. We chatted for a while and he just texted me now." I told Salma.

She grinned, "Wow, that's a funny story. It has happened to me before and I just blocked the guy."

I laughed, "Muguwa!(Wicked girl!)"

She joined me, "I don't trust people just like that oh, especially guys. He said his name was Tam...something and I immediately blocked him."

I laughed even harder, "Haha, that's just evil."

"Abeg. I have serious trust issues, don't disturb me." She sighed.

I heard that ring again from my phone and we both went silent.

"What's his name self?" She asked me.

"Em...what did he say again mah? Oh right, Mustapha." I told her.

"Okay..." She dragged.

I finally opened his text.

Unknown number: Hey

Unknown number: How are you doing?

I looked up at Salma, "Should I reply?"

She shrugged.

Me: I'm fine, thanks.

Unknown number: That's good.

Unknown number: So...what are you up to at the moment?

Me: I'm having lunch with a friend.

Me: Maybe we could talk later, since I'm busy.

Unknown number: Okay.

"The guy is a bit weird. The questions he asks don't always make sense." I said with a sigh.

Salma snickered, "Then stop talking to him jor."

I shook my head, "Nah, I'll just wait. It's not like he's bad anyway so it's fine."

"Toh. You mah you are weird." Salma teased me.

I rolled my eyes, "Abeg let's just do and leave this place. We need to get back to campus."

As if on cue, the waiter came along and set our orders on the table. I smiled as I looked down at the delicious jollof rice in front of me.

"Good choice, Salma." I grinned at my friend.

"Oho, me I just ordered jollof rice." She shrugged.

My eyes randomly roamed around and settled on the door which was just behind Salma.

Amir, Khalil and Taheer just walked in.

Khalil was quick to notice me and he started towards our table almost immediately with the usual bright smile plastered on his face.

Amir and Taheer went on their own to another table.

"Hey," He waved at me as he arrived at our table.

Salma turned to look at him. He waved at her too with a small nod.

She smiled, "Oh, you must be Khalil. Hi, I'm Salma."

They shook hands as he replied, "Pleasure meeting you."

He then looked over at me, "How far? It's been a while."

I chuckled lowly, "I suppose so."

"Okay, I'll excuse you for now and we can talk later?" He said making a phone gesture with his hand.

I giggled as I received the message clearly.

"Sure, no problem."

He winked at me before walking away to meet his friends.

Salma cleared her throat, "God when oh..."

I glared at her, "What happened?"

"I'd ask you the same thing. What happened just now, Karimah?"

I sighed, "Oya toh, I agree. We like each other, just don't make a big deal out of it."

She laughed at me nearly choking on her rice.

I rolled my eyes and was about to turn my attention to my food when I felt someone's eyes on me.

I made eye contact with the person and soon realised that it was actually Taheer.

Oh.

He waved at me before looking away.

Huh?

"Psst, Hajiya...Hajiya!"

My attention is drawn by Salma and I blinked twice before looking at her in question.

"Stick to one guy." She said.

I frowned at her, "What's that supposed to mean now?"

She grinned, "I saw you. Taheer just waved at you but you kept staring at him even when he looked away."

"I...you won't understand."

Yes, she wouldn't understand that he was just staring at me and it was when I looked at him that he turned away.

Hell, I didn't understand either.
