Amir's POV
I was starting to feel like a third wheel.
These guys always had something to talk about. I on the other hand, had nothing to talk about, nothing I wanted to talk about.
Not with them or anyone.
Sometimes I wondered why I even had friends.
I'm certainly not the social type. Not the cool guy. Not the Know-it-all kind of guy either.
I was just me. Neutral me.
"Amir, you really don't have anything to say about this?" Taheer questioned me.
I quirked a brow questioningly, "What am I supposed to say?"
Actually the better question was, 'What are you guys even talking about?'
My mind was somewhere else during their entire argument so I had nothing to say concerning it whatsoever.
"We know you're just trying to draw Amir to your side, Taheer. Unlucky for you, Amir hasn't even been paying attention." Khalil pointed out.
"Ah, Thank God you know." I said.
Taheer rolled his eyes, "Look, it's not that much of a big deal but we were just debating on the fact that we won't end up dating any girls this year-"
Khalil cut in, "In this case, I'm the opposer."
I sighed finding it hard to believe that this was actually the topic of their argument.
Now I'm really cracking my brain to understand how I ended up being friends with these guys.
"Why did I even answer you guys? Please, if we don't have anything better to do here. I'll just leave." I stood up.
"Kai, you're too serious for your own good. You can't laugh and play even a little." Taheer judged me.
"I can't laugh and play when I don't have a reason to. You guys can go on with your debate, I have better things to do."
"Oya go now, dama who's begging you to-"
"Amir, just come back. Let's not grow distant from each other. How about we play FIFA 19?" Khalil suggested.
I closed my eyes and blew out a breath before sitting back down.
I saw Taheer glare at me as I sunk into my seat and didn't even bother responding to him.
He was childish and I'd rather pay little to no attention to him.
We began playing and that kind of lit up my mood but not entirely. I was just hanging in there.
Until I got bored again.
I dropped the controller on the coffee table.
"I'm leaving. I'll see you guys tomorrow." I said standing up.
"Alright now," Khalil mumbled.
I looked over at Taheer right as he turned to look at me, "Hey, sorry about earlier. I was being a bit of a judgemental jerk."
I nodded my head with a genuine smile, "It's okay. I'm used to you."
Taheer laughed at this along with Khalil.
"Okay, bye." I waved at them and left.
I went into my car and casually took out my phone before starting the car.
I texted Salma a 'hey'.
Hopefully, she'd be less boring.
Salma: Hi.
Me: Wyd?
Salma: Cooking.
Me: Really? Lol, that's the last thing I expected you to reply with.
Salma: Toh, Ai I have to make dinner for the family, don't I?
Salma: You should come over.
Me: Nah, I'm good.
Salma: Please now, I want you to taste my food.
Interesting...
Me: Okay then, are you sure I'm welcome to your house tho?
Salma: My uncle is not home if that's what you're scared of.
Me: 😂😂
Me: Good. Now I can worry less.
Salma: 😂😂You're not serious fah.
Me: No jokes. I feel more at ease now.
Salma: Oya, it's okay. The joke is dead.
Me: Lol. Alright, send your address and I'll be there soon.
With that, I started the car and got on the road. Soon, I received a text as the address and I used the Google map from there.
I arrived at her place in no time.
I had to admit, the house was quite huge. It was a mansion. I began to wonder how many family members she even had.
She did tell me once that she came from Kaduna and that she was living with her Uncle, Aunt and their kids as her cousins.
Yeah, we chatted a lot.
I sometimes felt bad because I never really opened up to her about my personal life yet she did so freely.
I knocked on the front door and the door is opened by Salma.
A smile spread across her face as she set eyes on me. What surprised me even more was her throwing her arms around me in an embrace.
I hugged her back.
"Thanks for coming." She said as she pulled away.
We went into the house and she led me to their dining room.
At the center of a room was a long table, different kinds of food arranged on it.
As her family members began to walk into the room, she pulled me towards them and introduced me.
"Aunty, Baba, this is my friend from Campus. Amir Tukur." She said.
I squatted down and greeted them, "Ina wuni."
"Lafiya Kalau. You're welcome." Her uncle said.
I smiled as Salma then led me to the dining table and we got seated.
She served my food for me on a plate and winked as she elbowed me, urging me to try it.
I chuckled and took a fork in my hand then dug into the plate of spaghetti. I twirled the spaghetti onto the fork and shoved it into my mouth.
The sweet flavour hit my tongue as I started chewing.
It was incredibly tasty!
"It's good." I said to her in a whispery manner.
She smiled brightly, "I'm glad you like it."
We finished up with dinner and I got ready to leave. I went to meet her first to thank her for the delicious meal before leaving.
"Thanks, Salma." I told her as we stood outside by my car.
"No problem. You're welcome to come anytime, Amir." She said.
I simply nodded before going into my car. I saw her wave at me through my rearview mirror just as I started driving away.
That was...less boring.
