The rumour had spread like butter. According to the gossip of the school, I was now back together with my ex-girlfriend, Gia. Gia also thought that we were dating, and despite being a senior, she didn't know that she was just my ploy to make Cassia jealous.
I had seen Cassia around. She had bags under her eyes and a bored expression constantly. Hopefully, she was tired from crying about me all night. I couldn't wait until I asked her to take me back and I could hug her again. It was nice, knowing that she was probably spending lots of time worrying about me. It was satisfying in a way. Not manipulative. I'm just getting what I want in a creative way.
I see Cassia across the hall, cardigan floating down to her knees, looking short compared to her locker. She looks sluggish, shoving her heavy Biology textbooks onto the top shelf of her locker then pausing to check her phone. Her phone pings from a text, I can tell because she flinches slightly. I laugh at her but my smile fades when I hear his voice.
"Flinching again? Who texted you, scaredy-cat?"
Max. I groan.
"You, dummy. You texted me." She already looks more energetic once Max arrives.
He looks at her phone. "But I texted you like fifteen minutes ago. You only got it now?"
"Cell service in Americain public schools, I guess. Talk about first world problems." She laughs, making my heart drop a little.
"I know you're joking now but are you sure you're feeling okay?" He touches the bags under her eyes.
I want to punch him in the face. Would he stop making every excuse to touch her face. He's teasing my girlfriend! Well, she was my girlfriend. I refute myself.
Many people didn't know that Cassia and I were dating, or dated. Cassia didn't like a lot of PDA and most of my flirting before we dated, happened when she tutored me alone.Gia, on the other hand, is the opposite. Everyone knew about us when we actually dated, probably because she was a senior and that made me ten times cooler. Gia is ditzy. A dumb blonde that I could easily snatch. A smart senior wouldn't fall for me, unless it was for my looks. But Gia is just naive enough for me to fool. Plus she's a smoke show. Good tits, hour-glass figure, and she actually shows it off. I definitely wasn't missing Cassia's skirts and sweaters. It was like Cheryl Blossom and Betty Cooper. Betty is girlfriend material... but her body isn't. Cheryl, on the other hand, is hot. But she's a bit much to deal with.
Speaking of a lot to deal with, Gia runs up to me. "Hi, baby."
"Hey." I force a smile.
"I missed you while I was in pre-algebra. I wish you were my teacher, maybe I would pay attention." She twists her hair around her finger, annoyingly. She looks at me earnestly. "Hey, actually though, I'm really glad we got back together. Between you and me, I never really lost my feelings for you."
I look at Cassia across the hall talking with Max. I hope it's the same with her.
