Chapter 2: Mad Hat Portal

Hayes

I frowned as the smoke cleared. What's happening? Snow asked and I frowned but had a slight smirk. Let's find out. David said, and they went over to where Granny, and Red both were hugging. I swallowed hard as I felt this weird overwhelming feeling, this sadness. I walked away a little bit but then I heard Henry. I turned and smiled. Henry? He looked up and smiled. HENRY! I tackled him into a hug. Whoa, Dani I- I pulled back and sighed. You were right. Wait seriously?!? Let me Formerly introduce myself, my name is Hayes Jones. I was right! Emma looked at me jaw dropped some. What? You have an accent. Aye, it comes and goes. I don't know what happened all I know is next thing I heard was Blue saying there was magic here, in Storybrooke. No, that's not possible it- Hayes, it's alright. Snow said and I shook my head Emma turned. Dan- her hands. Red muttered and I looked down swallowing hard backing up my hands were glowing and my finger tips sparked. Dani don't- just stay back. I snapped at Emma who kept moving closer. I just want to help you-I said stay back! Magic shot off and caused a gust of wind. I-I'm sorry I- I wanted away from there, from them. I thought of the first place that always made me feel safe. No matter what.

Emma

What just happened? What's wrong with Dani?!? That's not her name, Emma. I looked at Mary Margaret who was actually Snow White, and apparently my mother. That is the only name I've known her by this far and- Hayes is gifted. I looked at mother superior. Born with very powerful magic, that seems to be affecting her now. But I thought you said that wasn't how it worked. For me, but for her- it's worse when she's upset, or feels threatened. I looked at David and frowned. We've dealt with this a few times. So do we go find her or- we let her come back on her own, just give her some space. I looked at Henry who made a face. I'm her best friend, maybe I could help? But then you might be at risk, she is very powerful with a lot of pain, that can cause very dark- she's not evil. Henry all but snapped and he sighed. She's too nice to be evil. Well whatever she is or isn't we have to fix the current thing. We call her in on it if we need help! I frowned at Henry some and Mary Margaret nodded. He's right, we'll need her.

Hayes

I sat at the beach swallowing hard. For twenty-eight years I didn't have magic, I didn't have this problem, and now it just kept coming back. I'd start to calm down but then I'd start thinking about how the curse broke, how Henry was alive, or how I remembered everything. And then the thought of Father kept popping into my head. Where was he if he wasn't here with us? My magic shot off again. I needed to talk to someone I kept trying to think of someone who was safe, who I could talk to. I looked up as the scene changed again, I was sitting in Archie's office. He turned and frowned. Hey Archie. Dan- he stopped some and I smirked laughing. Hayes, what're you- I need to talk. He nodded and I jumped into everything. And now- I winced at something broke because I got too worked up again. I see, your magic is working again. This! I stood up and sighed. This is what I meant by it was destructive and chaotic. He sighed some nodding. Hayes, I understand the frustration and the fear, but you cannot let that rule over you, or you will never gain that control you had, back. I frowned as Wales came in. Dr. Hopper, the town and I are going to the queen's home, she needs to pay for what she did. I frowned some, I wanted to hurt her just as bad as the next person especially for what she had just put me through for the last couple of hours but this didn't seem good.

We found the others and Archie caught them up to speed. I'll meet you all there, I have to get something first. I said putting my bag over me. See my backpack also had an over the body strap, so it could be a messenger bag or a back pack. They all started to Regina's and I went to Gold's shop. I frowned some at the girl as I knew who she was, she smiled. It's you uh- Hayes. She frowned some and I sighed. I used a fake name at first. Ah. She said and Gold came out frowning. Ms. Jones what are you- I put a hand up as I was looking. I'm looking for my property. And what would that be? My- I smiled as I saw it on the wall. Hello, old friend. I said grabbing my sword off the wall. I pulled it out of the scabbard some and smiled even more. I've missed you. I looked at Gold and he shrugged. It is yours, and I have plenty of other swords. You just want me out of your scales. I said putting it around me. You could say that. He said and I nodded. Thanks.

I made it to Regina's they had said they were gonna lock her up, but Wales kept pushing I sighed some and whipped out the sword. ALRIGHT IF YOU LOT DON'T START MOVING YOUR SORRY ARSES NOW THEN I WILL MAKE YOU MOVE! They all backed up and started leaving, I looked at Wales. Do you want to test the theory? He backed up and started leaving. Hmm. I put the sword back and smirked. So good to be back. I muttered and Emma frowned. Except when is a sword that conventional in society? When is it not? Emma rolled her eyes some but didn't say anything.

They went to lock her up, I went to Granny's, where people were piling to get dinner with their families. Red turned and smiled. Hayes! She hugged me and I hugged back. She pulled back and tapped one of the bar stools. What can I get for you? Your normal? Sure. I said and she ran to the back. I smirked some but felt the gut wrenching feeling, that I still didn't have dad.

I finally went back to Emma and the others as Red was asked to watch Henry. Dan maybe you should- first off no, second off it's Hayes. Sorry. Emma muttered and I shrugged. It's ok, just please try. She nodded. Anyway I gave them all a little time and space to talk but when Emma said they were gonna go talk to Gold I nodded and walked up. Alright. I muttered putting my bag over me and then holding onto my sword. You're nine, and you know how to use a sword? I nodded at Emma. I started learning when I was eight. She frowned some and I sighed. But that's not here nor there, we have to talk to Rumplestiltskin. I all but spat the name.

Night fell and we made it to the shop. I was looking around when he said it. Magic. Why? Not telling. The whole building shook, and car alarms started going off. I looked over behind me at the door. Bloody hell. I muttered knowing whatever was about to happen couldn't be good. I went out side and looked around scanning. Every now and then there was a inhuman screech, the wind kept picking up, and the light posts sparked and the light bulbs were breaking. I felt some glass fall on me, and I froze as I felt something move past me. Hayes what is it? I took off as everything was moving in the direction of the sheriff's station.

We got there and I made a noise, there was a wraith. Wraith's were the equivalent of a Dementore from Harry Potter. They sucked out your soul but you had to be marked and there was no magical spell for some sort of animal to pop up and protect you. David jumped into action. He got thrown back and almost crushed Snow turned looking for something to help. I pulled out a lighter and gave it to her as she grabbed a can of bug spray and basically fought it off with fire. Anyway game plan was to send it where it couldn't hurt anyone.

We went to town hall, Snow and David went to find something they could set on fire to battle the wraith. I stood in Regina's office with Emma and Regina both. I looked over as Emma said something about Jefferson's hat, and the thing he said about Mr. Croft not being there to protect me rang in my ears, it made so much more sense now. I looked up as Snow and David came in with brooms. I took one and frowned. You try to burn the ever living hell out of it Hayes. I nodded at David as we moved to the meeting hall, and David lit it. The thing was on its way, Regina was trying to get the hat to work. I was silently wishing it would but, Magic was a lot more complicated here, where it didn't necessarily belong. I blinked and then suddenly the doors flung open, and the brooms almost went out. Bloody hell. I muttered. The thing came in and David started swinging at it. Regina couldn't get the hat to work. I grabbed the oil and started helping snow douse the gate rails in it. DAVID! He closed them and sat them on fire, to try to protect Regina a little bit better. I just watched as she tried to get the hat to work. I looked up and then back when the hat started working, the thing came at us and got sucked in. I'm not sure how but it grabbed Emma's ankle. I grabbed Emma's hand but got pulled in the hat with her.

We landed hard and I looked up and around. Where- I stopped some and saw Snow knocked out. Snow? I muttered and then looked over. Emma?!? I started shaking Emma. Please wake up Emma- I stopped as I heard talking. I didn't know if it was safe or not. I went to find out of they were friendly or not but I knocked over a pile of ruble while I stood, and I heard footsteps. I'm so sorry. I muttered before hiding them by moving stuff with magic, and I moved somewhere else. I stood there watching and felt my stomach drop as the two woman who walked up found Emma and Snow.
