33~Today is the day

~a month later~

Jim and Tanya were out of hospital now and it was Annabella's funeral.

I got up at 8:00am to wake Elsie up. Dan was still asleep. I left him and got Else.

"But mummy it's too early." She stated. Elsie took after Dan and I in that respect. She never wanted to wake up.

"I know. But we have to go to Annabella's funeral today." I told her.

"Bella."

"Yeah."

I hugged her and lifted her out of bed. I took her upstairs and made her breakfast. When she finished I went into Dan and I's room. I stroked his hobbit hair and kissed him. He groaned and moved to face his back to me.

"Dan-" I started

"5 more minutes." Dan mumbled

"No Dan. I will drag you out if I have to."

"Ugh. Why do I have to get up?"

"It's Annabella's funeral at 12."

"That's today?"

"Yes. Don't worry I got you a suit. Now get up you lazy butt." Then I left.

"Thanks Jess."

"Don't mention it."

Then I got Elsie dressed. Her dress was knee length and it was simply black. It had sleeves and a black satin belt. I put some black pumps on her and a black bow in her hair to clip her fringe back.

When I went upstairs with Elsie Dan was dressed to my amazement. He was wearing the simple suit I brought him. It was a white shirt, a black skinny tie, a black blazer, black straight trousers and black shoes. I kissed him and went to get changed. I put on a sleeveless black dress, black heels and a cardigan. I put on natural eyeshadow and waterproof mascara. I put some lip gloss on and did my hair in a messy bun. Then I went into the living room.

"Ready?" Dan asked.

"No. I can't do this. I can't make this seem real." I stated. Dan came over and hugged me.

"It's okay. We can get through this. I won't leave your side Jess."

I smiled at him and then we heard the car honk. Dan held my hand and picked Elsie up. We went to Phil and Cat's car. Cat had her hair in a high bun. She was wearing a simple black dress and pumps. Phil was wearing a suit like Dan's and Madeline was wearing a black skater dress and black pumps that would most likely fall off her feet at a point. Phil hugged me and I had to hold back tears. Then Cat hugged me and I got into the back with Dan and Elsie. Dan and I sat right at the back and Elsie sat in the back with Madeline.

We got to the church half an hour later. A few cars were parked at the front as well as the hurst. We walked into the old brick building. Dan's hand on my waist and Elsie holding Dan's hand. Phil, Madeline and Cat were behind us. I opened the heavy wooden door and the surprising warmth of the church pulled me in. Then I saw the coffin. It had a white cloth draped over it and what I recognised as Annabella's favourite teddy was sat on the top. There was also a bunch of flowers with 'Anna' written in white roses. Then I saw Jim and Tanya sitting in the front row. Jim's arm was round Tanya's shoulder, her head was resting on his shoulder and Jim had his head on Tanya's head. I went over to them and Jim looked up.

"Hi Jess." He greeted, he got up and hugged me.

"I'm sorry about this." I stated

"There's nothing any of us could've done."

"No, but..."

"Hey Dan." Tanya stated. Dan went to talk to her and then Zalfie joined us. About 20 minutes later most of the youtubers invited were at the front talking. Then it was time for speeches. I sat next to Tanya and Dan. Jim went up and did a speech with Tanya:

"Thank you for coming to our beautiful daughter's funeral. Annabella was the best daughter we could have asked for. She was a joy to have around. You were taken from us too early and I'm sorry for that Anna." Jim stated. "I love you and you'll always be here. I'm sorry I didn't see the car quick enough. I'm so sorry that you had to pay for my mistake."

Then they both walked off and when they sat down Jim put his head in his hands. Then I was called to the front. I looked at Dan and he nodded. He got up with me and held my waist. We stood at Annabella's coffin and I put a picture of the family on it.

"So I'm Jessie Howell as most of you know and Annabella was my niece. I loved her so much and my daughter adored her cousin too. Anna was so bright and she was beautiful. Which was expected I mean look at her parents." I said "Anna was the light in everyone's world. The last time I saw her was at my wedding. I can't believe she's gone." Then I started to cry and Dan pulled me to him giving me a reassuring smile. I smiled back and continued "I love you Anna and you could've been so much, you were taken too soon as your daddy said. Goodbye." Then we sat down. Dan put his hand on my knee and I lent into him.

The rest of the funeral was a blur. We went home at 2:30 and got home at 3:30. I put Elsie down for a nap and Dan and I edited a colab we made a week before. Then I felt water on my head.

"DANIEL!" I shouted looking at my husband next to me.

"I did nothing." He stated.

"You did."

"I don't even have any water."

"How did you know it was water?"

He opened his mouth and then his eyes went wide as I picked up the glass of water. I flicked some at him and then he tackled me to the floor. I squealed as he put water on my face and then the computer turned off.

"Shit." We both said. Dan got off me and turned the computer back on. Luckily the video was saved and so we carried on with the editing process.
