"Oh, hi Jack, did you bring my- Hailey?" Jack's mother walks through, seeing her unexpected guest. She brings Hailey into a hug, squeezing her, greeting the girl she saw as a daughter for many years.
"How have you been?" She asks, a large smile on her face.
"I've been doing great, thank you, yourself?"
"Good, thank you, love. Come through."
"I'm doing good as well, thanks mum." Jack rolls his eyes playfully.
"I see you all the time." She laughs, pecking her son on the cheek, taking them both through to their kitchen. "Would you like a cup of tea?"
"Yes, please." Hailey smiles back, taking a seat at the breakfast bar.
Jack nods also, his mother beginning to boil the kettle.
"It's been so long, Hailey. So, are you two.."
"Mum." Jack groans.
"I've seen all the articles, they never stop coming up! You're lovely together though."
"We're not together."
"Not yet, anyway." Hailey interrupts, earning a great smile from Karen.
Jack's mum makes their drinks, taking a seat beside the two.
"I feel like i've gone back in time, when i'd catch you both sneaking around." She laughs, earning giggles from the other two. "Couldn't be apart."
They all chatter about how they've been, until they leave, giving a hug and a kiss to Jack's mum and returning back to the car.
"Love ya' still." Jack grins. "I told you."
"I know, i know."
"Do you want to go home?" Jack asks, it now becoming late afternoon.
"Uh, yeah, alright."
"Are you sure?"
"Yeah." Hailey nods.
Really, she'd rather spend more time with Jack, after reminiscing about their past relationship, she really wants to make up for the time lost.
Knowing she can't do that in one day, it doesn't change the fact she wishes they could spend forever together.
Jack pulls up outside of Hailey's house, she looks at him with a sort of sad expression.
"What's up? Tell me whats wrong."
"I just miss when we was together all the time, talking with your mum made me realise that." She admits, a large weight feels as if it has been taken from her shoulders.
"Do you want me to go?" Hailey shrugs, not really knowing the answer herself. "Alright, Hailey, communicate with me, do you want me to leave, stay, or do you want to come to my house instead?"
"Can i go with you?"
"Yes, go get your stuff."
A one night mishap turned into Jack and Hailey doing what they used to, barley ever spending a night alone.
In fact, it's just like they're reliving their last relationship, everything they do is pretty much based on the past, but that's what brings them closer. Obviously, there will be original moments, but these are some memories they've been waiting to relive and now they have a chance to, they're not going to let it pass up.
Hailey returns to the car with a bag, placing it in the back seat, now with a smile on her face.
"You could've just asked me, you looked like a sad puppy." Jack laughs, driving to his own house.
"I was just thinking about how we was barley apart, i miss that and we're not even together."
Hailey doesn't know about Jack's plan, he's been thinking about it for a while and has now worked out when to put it in place.
He's sure it'll work and telling by her emotions today, the odds are definitely in his favour.
Jack is happy he's waited, happy they're taking things slow and not getting straight to it.
It kills him to not kiss her but he knows it'll all be worth it, especially when he can call her his once again.
"I have a shoot tomorrow." Hailey groans, unmotivated for the following day already.
"What time?"
"I've got to be there for eight."
"I've got football training at eight-thirty, i'll take you there."
"Thank you." She smiles, resting her hand on Jack's.
They pull up to Jack's house, going inside.
Hailey places her bag on the floor, she's never been in Jack's new house.
By first glances, this one is obviously much bigger and reasonably homely. He's not always had the best sense at choosing things that go well together and make a house able to be called home, but he's proven himself and done pretty well.
"What do you think?" Jack asks, sliding off his shoes and jacket.
"It's great, very much you."
"What's that supposed to mean?"
"I can just tell this is your house, the decorations, the build, everything." Hailey shrugs.
It's like a lightbulb sparks in Jack's head, his mouth opening in a gasp, taking Hailey's hand suddenly.
"And look at this."
She walks into a cinema room, well sized, not too big nor too small.
"Wow." Is all she manages to get out.
"Nice, eh?"
"Yeah, really nice."
"Up there, there's a projector that can come down." He points to the rolled up screen hanging from the ceiling.
"Yes, this house screams your name."
"Oh, shut up." He laughs.
Jack takes Hailey on a tour around his house, which she actually enjoys.
It's interesting to see what other people have in their house, how they organise it and how they decorate it, you can really tell a lot about a person just from where they live.
"Hailes, do you want a drink?" Jack shouts after her as she walks up the stairs, going to place her bag down.
"Yeah, alright. Get me anything." She replies, reaching Jack's bedroom and placing her bag down.
What she didn't notice before is a photo of Jack, Declan and Hailey, framed.
She smiles to herself, taking a picture and sending it to Maura, after remembering she hasn't filled her in much recently since she hasn't even had the time.
Maura replies immediately, blowing up Hailey's phone, earning her a few looks from Jack.
Hailey explains what's happened as much as she can in messages, since she can't call or send her any voice messages seen as the main topic of the conversation is sitting very close by.
