Hailey takes a long breath, sitting outside of Declan's house, in attempt to talk to Mason.

She gets out of her car after a while, walking straight into his house. Declan is sitting on the sofa, without Mason.

"Hailey?"

"Yeah, where's Mason?"

"Kitchen?" He says like a question, Hailey nods, taking herself through Declan's house to find him.

Sure enough, Mason is sitting at the kitchen counter, his head lifts up when he sees Hailey stood in the doorway.

"Can i talk to you?" She says, not waiting for an answer, taking a seat near him.

"I'm sorry." Mason looks at the girl.

"Yeah, you should be."

"I wasn't thinking straight."

"Clearly. Mason, what you said was completely ridiculous, i would've never thought that you would say that."

"I'm sorry, i was just pissed off."

"That's not an excuse, don't call me when you get your heart broken? Mason, you're my best friend, i'd even say my brother but after yesterday's events, that's weird."

His face has an apologetic look on his face, but it doesn't excuse his actions and Hailey knows that.

All her life, pretty much, she's grown up with Mason and she's gone her whole life without ever having to see that side of him.

She was in fact shocked that he would say something like that, sure, it's not that big of a deal, but hearing it from Mason who's heard all of her problems hit deep.

Of course, Jack did break Hailey's heart last time, but there is always room for maturity and maybe Jack and Hailey have just grown up and know how to properly handle feelings.

"I didn't mean it. I promise."

"Mason, if you felt however you said you did, why couldn't you have told me sober? When you was in the correct state of mind. How much did you drink?"

"A bit. And i didn't want to tell you sober because i knew you don't feel the same. I want us to have the same bond we've always had, where we can basically cuddle on the couch and we're just best friends, i want that, but i've grown to love you differently. As soon as i said it, i regretted it, which is why i was planning on going home."

"Where did the me fucking Jack come from?"

"I don't know, do you and Jack have something?"

Hailey's mind goes blank, is it best to keep it quiet for now? "Uh, no, we don't. But i'm definitely not fucking him."

"Well, i assume you will have something soon, you always were going to go back to each other." Mason shrugs, taking a sip of his water.

"What?"

"I mean, you can't seriously believe you two were never going back for each other."

Hailey shrugs, unsure of what to say.

"Well, i am happy for you, Hailey. Whatever happens, i don't really care, but you'll always be my best friend."

"Of course, unless you say something like that again."

"I'm sorry, alright? Come here." He puts his arms out, wrapping them around the girl.

"Declan shouted at me last night." Mason adds on, Hailey laughs in response.

"You deserved it."

Hailey says goodbye to the both of them, leaving happier than she entered. Obviously, she's still not fully forgiven Mason, it'll take time. It's not really the words that hurt, it's the person who said them.

Hailey decides to ring Maura on her way home, avoiding the Jack part. She will tell her, of course, probably because she'll pressure her into it.

"What did Jack say then?" She questions.

"Uh, nothing."

"Don't bullshit, tell me."

"He just said he has feelings." Maura squeals excitedly, although it making her sound like a small child.

The pair talk until Hailey gets home, ending the phone.

Hailey cant help herself from laughing, when she was staying with her parents, they'd have exact conversations like that one, Jack climbing through her window as if they was in a 2000's movie.

They snuck around all the time, which was part of the fun, until at first Declan caught Jack in her room, which he wasn't happy about to say the least.

But, after a while, he warmed up, helping Jack get his way inside, saying he's one of Declan's friends, which wasn't completely a lie.

When Hailey's parents found out about their relationship, they definitely disagreed at first, not liking the idea, but they got over it, beginning to love Jack and asking him to visit.

Jack knocks on the door, Hailey opening it and smiling at him, he steps inside giving her a hug and going to sit on her couch.

"So, what are we gonna do?" He asks, bouncing his leg.

"I don't know." She shrugs.

"Come on, you're the host."

Hailey shakes her head, breathing a laugh out of her nose. "We can go out, stay here, swim?" That reminds her, Declan was supposed to come swimming with his friends, but it seems they've both forgotten about that.

"Oh, you have a pool don't you?"

"Yeah, should be heated."

"Rich."

"I'm rich? You're a footballer. Plus, Declan payed for some of this house since he liked it but didn't want to move. No logic, i know."

"Right, uh, do you want to go to Starbucks?" Hailey nods, she understands it's probably one of the most 'basic things' as people say, but what's not to like?

They get into Jack's car, Hailey taking control of the music as Jack drives them both.

He pulls around, ordering their drinks and parking in the parking lot, sipping their drinks as they speak about some of their favourite memories.

Without a doubt, is one of their best days together, when they just talk about moments they'll always remember, no matter how hard they try to forget.
