It's been five years now, Jack and Hailey got married a year ago, three years ago they had their first child, a boy.If you asked them, they'd tell you that they always wanted their son, Noah. Which they have always wanted a child. But he was unexpected, he wasn't really meant to happen.
They did plan on getting married before having children, but they feel their son was truly a blessing in disguise.
At first, they weren't sure what they should do when Hailey told Jack she was pregnant, but after thinking it through and talking to many friends and family members, they decided to keep it.
He's turning three today in fact, he's talking, walking and certainly playing football with Jack.
The bond they have is indescribable, you can tell how much they love each other and Hailey hopes that it doesn't change.
They've had their arguments about, 'who loves mummy most', but it's all clearly playful, ending in a tickle fight.
Hailey and Jack are watching Noah open his gifts, after each piece of wrapping paper is completely torn off, he inspects the present, trying to piece it together properly, sometimes getting his parents to help.
After opening his presents they get him breakfast, sitting him down at the table.
"Are you having a good day?" Jack asks him, pulling his chair in closer to the table.
"Yes. Is Declan coming?"
"Who?" Hailey turns, realising he never placed the uncle in front.
"Uncle Declan."
Hailey and Jack laugh, Noah looking at them confused before shaking his head to continue eating.
"Yes, he is coming. Don't call him Declan, he won't like that." Hailey says, rubbing his back.
He nods, looking at the box of one of his presents on the table in front of him.
Declan arrives a few hours later with Lauren, his girlfriend.
They're expecting some more guests but Declan likes to show up early to everywhere.
"Hiya, mate." Declan greets the boy in front of him, picking him up from the floor. "I like your outfit." He walks off with him, not even saying hello to Jack or Hailey.
Lauren greets them both with a hug, laughing at Declan's ignorance to the two.
In the kitchen, Noah is showing Declan his toys, explaining to him how to use it.
"We got you some presents too, do you want them now?" He asks, getting many nods of excitement.
"Alright, let's go." He lifts him up to be on his shoulders, casually walking through the house, grabbing the keys from Lauren as he goes.
Declan returns with a bag in his hand, setting it down on the floor, placing Noah down afterwards.
He looks at Hailey and Jack for approval, getting a nod while he starts to take the wrapped gifts out.
After he opened them, he gives both Declan and Lauren a hug, thanking them.
If it's one thing you're grateful for, it's his manners and how good he is at using them.
Mason knocks on the door next, letting himself in without waiting for an answer.
"Hey." He smiles, kicking off his shoes at the door, noticing the small boy running towards him. "Hello, buddy." Mason lifts him off the floor, ruffling his hair. "How old are ya?"
"Three."
Mason nods, giving him a high five. "Yeah, you are. Here, this is for you." He hands him bag.
"Hi, Mase." Hailey smiles, standing up from the couch to hug him.
"How messy is your house already?"
"Don't ask." Hailey smiles, earning a laugh from Mason.
He says hello to everyone else, sitting down on the couch, Noah going to sit on his knee, bringing over a toy he doesn't understand.
Mason explains, showing him he needs to wind it up and place it down for it to work.
Some more of their friends arrive, bringing more gifts for the little boy which has been well and truly spoilt.
Some things still haven't changed though, they still regularly have movie nights or days you might want to say, Declan has a room dedicated to him, Hailey still ends up running around after them all.
Everyone goes outside, leaving Jack and Hailey alone for the first time today while they prepare the cake.
"I wonder how different life would be right now without Noah." Jack places a candle in the cake.
"I know." Hailey shakes her head, unable to imagine what they would be like without him.
"Baby number two soon i say." Jack grins, leaning down to kiss her cheek.
"Of course you would, because you're not carrying and pushing out the baby."
"That's true." He admits, sitting down in a chair as he watches her plant a few more candles down. "Do you want me to carry it?"
"Nope." Hailey answers quickly. She trusts Jack a lot, but will he be able to manage not dropping this on the floor, potentially not and she doesn't want to risk that.
She lights the candles, turning off the lights and moving the cake to the table, Jack calling everyone inside.
Noah sits on her knee, staring at the small flames before his brown eyes.
The happy birthday song finishes and he blows out the candles, it takes a few huffs but he gets there eventually.
Hailey cuts the cake, portioning it out for everyone while they all return back outside.
"Come here." Jack opens his arms for Hailey, once she's close enough, he engulfs her in a hug, pulling her body close. "I love you."
"I love you too. Are you okay?"
"Yeah, why?"
"Because that was really random."
"Can i not tell my wife i love her?"
Hailey hums back, going on her tiptoes to kiss him briefly before pulling him outside, sitting in a chair each, watching the children play.
Jack and Hailey were never meant to end things on a bad note, which is why they came back together and which is why they're now married.
Sometimes, not everything works the first time around, which is why you shouldn't give up on it and understand where second chances are needed and deserved.
Had they not reconsidered their situation, they could've risked never having their happy ending.
You'll go through rough patches, but they're always made better with the right person.
the end
i cannot believe this book has ended.
truthfully, i was never going to end it like this, really i had a completely different idea for the entire story.
i would've loved to make this book longer, but with school starting again i purely won't have the time or energy to be giving frequent updates.
which is pretty disappointing since i would've loved to write a book about a different player.
however, i'd like to thank you all for your support and following me throughout the creation of this book. i really hope that you did enjoy it.
