"Sir, the travel will take three hours. If you feel unwell or need anything please tell me," a man not much older than the maid himself said and opened the door of the carriage for him.

Changbin cast a look at the castle one last time and adjusted the hood of his emerald-green cloak. Despite the morning sickness that was killing him he managed to curl his lips in a polite smile and got in the carriage.

Once he felt the horses move he let out the air he was unconsciously holding in his lungs and began to rub circles on his belly in a soothing manner.

He was grateful the queen had agreed to let him go back to his hometown for as long as he would need. She had also promised to support him financially till he was ready to start working at the castle again.

He regretted not thanking and saying goodbye to the prince but he knew it was better that way. After the meeting with the queen, he got back to his room to prepare for the journey and went to sleep. When the first rays of the sun shone through the window there was a knock on his door indicating it was time to go.

Changbin slowly drifted off to sleep. When he woke up they were already in front of his small cottage. A middle-aged woman lifted her head from the roses she was tending and frowned seemingly not expecting anyone to come over. As soon as Changbin got out of the carriage she immediately ran to her son with tears of happiness shining in her eyes.

"Mom," the boy whispered feeling the urge to cry overtake his body and his small frame began to shake.

The woman hugged him tightly.

"Changbin, baby, what are you doing here?" she asked and took a step back to inspect him.

The maid sniffled and let out an amused chuckle.

"I'm okay, mom. I'm going to stay with you for some time. Don't worry. I'm not fired," he replied with a soft smile adorning his lips.

She seemed to be curious about many things but they were still outside and in the presence of the man so she only nodded.

Once they thanked the carriage man they got inside the house.

"I'll make you some breakfast. Go wash up in the meantime," Changbin's mom said and disappeared into the kitchen. The boy obeyed and directed his steps to the bathroom.

Once he entered the kitchen his mom was already putting some omelet and bacon on his plate. She poured them two cups of tea and sat down next to him.

"Dig in while it's hot."

"Mom?" Changbin glanced up from the plate and gulped.

"What it is, baby? Do you want me to make you something else?" she asked.

Changbin shook his head briskly.

"I need to tell you something," he muttered and turned to fully face her. "I- I am pregnant," he whispered.

The woman's eyes widened and she almost dropped the cup in her hand. For a moment she was too shocked to utter a word making her son scared. She blinked a few times and soon a bright smile appeared on her face.

"Honey, I'm so happy to hear that! Does that mean I'll be a grandma?" she beamed excitingly and embraced the boy.

Changbin let out a sigh of relief and hugged her back.

"Yes, you'll be a grandma in seven months," he giggled seeing the woman's joy.

She let go of him and the expression on her face turned into a playful scold.

"Seo Changbin, why haven't you told me this earlier? I can't believe it. You'll have to explain yourself," his mother chided.

"Let's eat first, okay? I'm starving. The baby is a glutton."
