Iduru and I reach Whiterun by high noon the next day. We walk up to the Khajiit caravan that is stationed by the gates of Whiterun. A female Khajiit, with black and white fur and scars on her nose, steps forward, but the Khajiit merchant, a gray-furred Khajiit, waves her off.

"Apologies, Nisavi-Ko is very protective of this one," he says. "Can this one help you?"

"I would like to buy some things," Iduru says.

"Ah, this one feels warmth from your presence. This one thanks you. Take a look."

When Iduru is done, I step forward, and say, "Why are you out here, not inside the walls of the city?"

"The Jarls of Skyrim are as cold as this land," Nisavi-Ko says, her tone icy. "They do not let Khajiit into the cities, as they think us all thieves and liars."

I shake my head. "That's not right. You aren't all like that, you're all very nice, as far as I know. Everyone of you I've met is nice."

"You met a lot of us?" Nisavi-Ko asks.

"Just a handful of Khajiit, but you're all so kind."

Nisavi-Ko smiles. "I find warmth from you two. I wish I could travel with you."

I look at Iduru, and then back to Nisavi-Ko. "Can I ask you something, Nisavi-Ko?"

She nods, her black braids bouncing with the motion, and the rings woven into her hair clink together.

"Why is it that you speak different from the others?"

"I was not raised around my Khajiit family. I was instead raised by an Argonian family, who taught me how to use magicka and how to fight. I guard the caravan now, since that's the only job I could have, since the Jarls seem to hate us so much. I guess that's why I want to go with you, and explore the world."

Iduru smiles. "Well, I'd love it if you came with us."

Nisavi-Ko looks at the Khajiit male next to her. He smiles at her. "Go, explore this barren, cold wasteland."

"Are you sure?" She asks him.

He hands her a large sack of gold. She stares at it, her bright blue eyes shine. "I thank you."

"This one wishes you well, may your road lead you to warm sands."

Nisavi-Ko grins and walks up to us, and we stash the gold away in her backpack and head up the road towards Whiterun, deciding that we will vouch for Nisavi-Ko's admittance into the city. When we reach the gates, two guards look at us, their helmets making it impossible to see their faces.

"Can she come with us? Into the city?" I ask.

"We'll be keeping an eye on you three," the guard on the left says. "Go inside."

"Thank you," Nisavi-Ko says.

The three of us head inside the city of Whiterun.
