Farkas finds me later that night when he returns from a job with Athis and Tovar. He stops me, and, as we are alone in this section of Jorrvaskr, I begin to wonder what is going on with him. He seems almost .... anxious. His beautiful blue eyes are locked on me, and he seems to be taking in my appearance.
Right now, I wear simple clothes, a gray shirt and black pants. I am barefoot, and my mane of red hair is up in a tight ponytail. I am only dressed so casual right now because I was heading to bed. As Harbinger, they allow me to sleep in Kodlak's old room. So now, we are outside of that room, in the hall, and Farkas still has yet to tell me what is going on.
He takes a deep breath to steady himself, and then he speaks.
"Harbinger.... no. Red.... I uh, was wondering if you would be interested in, uh ...."
Is he asking me out?
He clears his throat and plows onward, saying, "Would you be interested in me?"
"Like a date?" I ask.
He nods.
I smile at him then. I lean towards him, reaching up to grab his shoulders, and I pull him closer to me, wrapping my arms around him, I kiss him on the cheek. He and I lean back after a moment, and he kisses me on the lips. Instantly, I feel the wolf in me stir.
More! More! More!
He kisses me harder, his lips working agains mine. I feel lightheaded, and then I remember to breathe through my nose. Farkas cups my face in his hands, and his tongue explores my lips briefly, before he steps back. We are still so close, and both breathing heavy.
He looks at me for a long moment, and then says, his deep voice raspy, "I had to do that."
"I'm glad you did," I say.
Footsteps approach in the hallway to the left, and Vilkas rounds the corner before we can separate from each other completely. He wisely doesn't say anything at all, just smiles a little and says, "Red, Aela was looking for you. She's up at the Skyforge. Says it's important, but she didn't want the others to hear."
"What about us?" Farkas asks, looking at his brother. "Does she need us all up there?"
"No, just Red," Vilkas answers.
"Okay," I say, and then, I walk down the hall, looking back once more at the twins standing there, both of them watching me as I go.
I walk to the Skyforge, and as soon as the cool, night air hits me, I smile. Skyrim at night is a beautiful sight. The green, yellow, and blue lights dance in the star-speckled sky. The moons shine bright tonight as well. And as I approach the Skyforge, I see Aela sitting down on a stone ledge where Eorlund, the blacksmith, places his weapons he's finished.
Aela looks up at me, and I see in her hand a dagger. Not just any dagger, but Skjor's dagger. Skjor was her lover, who was killed by the Silver Hand, werewolf hunters. Vilkas and I killed them all after they killed Kodlak, the previous Harbinger.
She stands up and walks over to me, the fires of the Skyforge casting an eerie glow over her sharp features. Aela sheathed her dagger, and walks up to me, then wraps me up in a hug. Confused, and not sure what else to do, I simply hug her back.
"We have a mission ahead, Harbinger. One I am admittedly a bit nervous about."
"Why?" I ask.
She takes a deep, shuddering breath. "The Silver Hand are back. They're mobilizing against Whiterun itself."
