Farkas turns to me. Liethel Duskraven is alive still, and so are we. But we are all that's left. And there can only be two of us. Not three.
Farkas takes my hand, smeared with blood, and gently touches it to his cheek. He closes his eyes, and then, he opens his eyes, looking into mine. "I'm so sorry it's happening like this, Red."
Tears fill my eyes. "Farkas ...."
"When I die, do what you did for Kodlak. Heal my wolf spirit and I will go to Sovngarde. Dying in battle is my destiny, after all," he says solemnly.
"No!" I cry. "I can't lose you!"
He hugs me close to his body, tight, like he might become one with me. He presses close to me, then kisses my lips. I close my eyes, kissing him back. Then he steps back. He lifts my other hand, still clutching a bloody dagger, and he nods once.
"You and Liethel have unfinished business here," he says. "Make them pay, Red."
"I can't kill you," I sob. "I won't. What of Vilkas? Aela? What about the rest of the Companions? I can't kill you. I just can't."
"Please," he says quietly.
I shake my head. He kisses me again. Then he takes my arm and plunges the dagger into his own heart. I scream, and he kisses me one last time. He then stumbles back. He sinks to one knee. I sob, kneeling beside him.
"No, no, no! Please, no. Arkay, don't take him. Please!"
"You'll see me again," Farkas says softly, blood trickling down his armor and across his lips. He looks at Liethel. "Protect her, keep Red safe."
"I will," she says softly.
Farkas slumps forward, laying on the ground, bleeding out slowly. I sob and sit beside him, and I hold his hand. Liethel bends down and stabs his throat, killing him instantly.
Farkas is dead.
My lover is dead. Forever gone from this world.
And it is all the fault of the Silver Hand. I close my eyes and cry, as Liethel holds me, shushing me softly as I cry and cry. Then, the Silver Hand come in and separate us, and I am taken away to be seen by Taaren.
I remain silent as she checks me, and she heals me, healing wounds I hadn't known I'd sustained. She looks at me, her eyes widening.
"Uh, Red?"
I just look at her, tears falling down my face. I do not speak. I just stare.
"You're... you're pregnant."
