A/n: I know some of y'all are mad the explicit scene (if you read the original) was taken out but it's not really something that adds to the books or what I want so *shrugs*. But keep reading for more of the story!

A day later
Saturday, April 31st

10:38 am

Maya's POV

I stared down at the eggs sizzling in the frying pan. Tomatoes, onions, and spinach were chopped and sitting on a cutting board next to the stove ready to be added to the pan.

I rubbed the sleepiness from my eyes and flipped the omelet.

I was already behind schedule for the day.

After last night's events, I passed out and slept through my alarm. By the time I could get my ass out of Will's bed, I noticed that he was already gone.

He left me a note saying that he had a meeting with his agent and that he'd meet me later to study.

I'd be lying if I said I had enough energy to study today. I could sleep for another day in fact.

The soreness wasn't surprising but the weird feeling in my chest when I woke up was.

I'd spent the entire night with Will and yet I missed him. Maybe it was the fact that we'd spent 2 months dancing around each other and I wanted to make up for the lost time.

We only had a week left and then graduation and then we'd be states apart. We hadn't discussed that part yet.

I knew Will would eventually be moving to New York City but I wasn't sure how much time we'd be spending apart. He had to go home and spend some time with his family.

Just the thought of it made me sad.

So much was going to be happening in the next few weeks and I felt like I was drowning in the uncertainty of everything.

The days always feel long but the months go by so quickly.

I sprinkled some spice onto my omelet and dumped the contents on the cutting board into the pan. Sizzling sounds began and I poked it with my wooden spatula.

Surprisingly, no one was at Will's dorm house when I came downstairs. I knew everyone was studying but I at least expected someone to walk into the kitchen.

I was grateful because I was practically wearing "the morning after look" in one of Will's sweats and a raggedy t-shirt. My hair was another story entirely. I needed to get my braids done soon because the new growth was causing a fuzzy mess atop my head.

I turned off the fire and plated my omelet, placing the dirty pan in the sink.

The sound of the door opening made me freeze momentarily and I quickly dropped my ass into one of the stools, facing away from the front door.

"Maya?"

A smile warmed my face as I recognized that voice.

I turned in my chair and was greeted with sparkling blue eyes that belonged to Monica.

Her blond hair was pushed into a cute messy bun and she was wearing a matching workout outfit.

She beamed at me and I let my feet touch the floor, walking towards her.

She held open her arms and I pulled her in for a tight hug.

That was the thing about us. We weren't by any means super close but there was mutual care for each other. We'd both been there for each other in the past year that cemented something between us. There were certain things I could only talk to her about because I knew that she understood it all too well.
