We spent the next hour writing out details and ideas for the first two pages of the paper.

By the time we finished, it was 9:15 and I was feeling a little jittery from my full cup of espresso.

Will and I packed up all of our things and made plans to meet two days from now.

We exited the coffee shop together and said goodbye.

I walked in the dark of the night and pulled out my phone to call Casey. She always said that if I'm walking alone at night I should call her.

"Maya."

I jumped slightly and turned around.

Will stood there, hands in his pockets, and laughed lightly.

"I'm sorry. I was just gonna ask if you wanted a ride back to your dorm."

I stared at him hesitating. "Why?"

"I'm just trying to be nice. Plus I have seat warmers."

I shrugged and said sure.

We walked with each other in silence.

I pulled my coat closer to my body feeling the wind pick up.

"It's this one." We stopped at a black jeep wrangler and my eyes widened. His car is really nice. Does he come from money or something?

He unlocked the car and pulled open the passenger door. I jumped in and said thank you.

The inside of the car smelled like cinnamon as well.

He hopped into the car and turned on the ignition.

"Thanks again."

"No problem. And don't worry, I'm not trying to flirt with you."

"If you say so."

He turned on the heat and pressed the seat warmer button.

I buckled up my seatbelt and leaned back into my seat.

He pulled out of the parking and drove onto the street.

"So..." I said looking over at him.

"So...?"

"Do people know that you're kind of a nerd?"

He guffawed out loud and I smiled.

"No, not really. I kind of have to keep up with appearances. You don't want people to get all confused you know. Their minds couldn't handle the truth." He said with a smile lingering on his lips.

"So you act dumb around them?"

"Not exactly...but I keep it basic. I have a reputation to uphold."

"You poor baby."

"Well, it's harder than you think." He said.

"Yeah, it must be so hard," I said sarcastically. "You have to party every weekend, have some cheerleader on your arm, and have a bunch of people love you even though they don't know you."

"Wow, have you been following me?"

"Cliches are cliches for a reason and I'm just guessing. I don't really run with that crowd." I pushed the hair out of my eyes.

He made a left turn and I recognized the back road that lead to campus.

"Well tell me about your kind of people."

I was surprised that he even wanted to know.

"Well... I've got two best friends. Casey and Ben. They're basically my only family. We've known each other since freshmen year and have been inseparable since."
