This song is by one of my fav artists Audrey Mika. It goes really well with this chapter and it makes me super emotional. I hope you guys like it!

Maya's POV

Everything felt stiff.

I felt like my body had been sucked into a vortex.

I could feel everything. All of the pain in my body, the heaviness of my bones.

I was alive.

I could feel the weight of my eyelids as I tried to open them.

What happened? I thought I died.

Voices. I could hear someone talking near me.

Using all of my strength, I felt my muscles twitch in my fingers.

It was as though I overdosed on Benadryl. Gosh I was tired.

My eyelids fluttered open and waves of light peeled in.

Everything was hazy as my eyes tried to focus.

"Hi." I heard a soft voice say on my side.

Brown eyes and a warm smile greeted me and I blinked rapidly.

Was he real?

I lifted my hand and my fingertips touched his cheek. He didn't move and he didn't vanish.

He was real.

"Hi, Maya." Will said with a relieved expression.

I looked past him and saw Ben, Casey, Gen, and Sean surrounding my bed.

They all smiled at me.

They were real.

Gen's eyes were rimmed red as she smiled at me. Ben looked like he hadn't seen a brush in days with his blond hair all over the place and Casey wasn't wearing her usual colorful makeup.

Sean winked at me.

My face broke into a smile and I felt over come with emotions.

There was something in my nose, it was a breathing tube of some sort.

I placed my hands at my sides and I tried to sit up. I grunted as I felt a sharp pain at my side.

Sean quickly came to my opposite side and with Will they both lifted me up by my shoulders.

Casey grabbed a remote on my bedside table and pressed a button. I felt the head of the bed lift slowly and I sat up straighter.

"So how are you feeling?" Gen said carefully sitting at the foot of the bed.

I opened my mouth to say something but I stopped short.

Gen's face drained of color and I froze in confusion.

I opened my mouth again and tried to speak.

No noise came out.

My hand immediately went to my neck.

My brows furrowed together and I felt a small panic rise in my chest.

Will sat beside me and placed a hand on my thigh.

He smiled in a way that didn't meet his eyes. "There's something that you should know."

I eyed him feeling fear paralyze me.

"So great to see you're awake." We all turned our attention to the doctor that walked into the room with a nurse at his side.

He smiled brightly at me and I felt myself relax slightly.
