When morning arrived Dale was nowhere to be found and I was still on the floor wrapped up in blankets that smelt like him. I held them closely for a moment just basking in the silence, this war was becoming more apparent each day and it was tearing my family apart.
I was surprised by a knock on the door, I didn't move staring at it as I wondered who it might be. There was a possibility that perhaps it was Kai but after yesterday I highly doubted it. I was still angry at him, but I knew now that there were better ways in which I could have addressed him, he was after all the reason I was still alive.
"Izarra?"
I smiled, recognising Daphne's voice as it came through the door.
"Come in"
The door creeped open and Daphne looked confused for a moment, her eyes searching the room until she found me on the floor. She smiled and closed the door behind her.
"It is nearly midday and you have not even dressed"
"Why did no-one wake me?"
Daphne sat on the bed, holding her stomach. A smile fluttered onto my face as I remembered her pregnancy, there was a weird glow that seemed to come from it and immediately I knew her child would survive it was strong. I hoped sincerely that it did not suffer the fates of other untrue matches.
"We all thought you needed the rest."
I fell silent, standing up with the covers still wrapped around me. Daphne watched me as I moved around the room preparing my attire for the day. The men's clothes had grown in me quite a lot, though that might have had something to do with what an inconvenience the black dress had been while we had been in the range.
"Give me ten minutes"
She nodded as I entered the bathroom. I did not take long, yesterday I had cleaned the dirt away now all I needed was something to wake me up. It was clear that today would be a long day. There was a lot that I needed to know, things to say, people to see and questions to ask. Before long I was done, and I left the bathroom tying my hair upwards into a presentable bun.
Daphne was staring out the window with a blank expression on her face, watching the scene down below. I quickly dressed while she was occupied and once I was done I walked over to see what had captured her attention.
Below wolves were battling one another, they were not gentle and nor did they hold back. Another sign that the war was arriving much sooner than anticipated.
"I'm ready" I announced softly wondering what she was thinking but too scared to ask before she said something I didn't want to hear.
She nodded turning around and walking towards the door, her hand lay on the door handle but before she turned it she stared at me, her eyes heavy with emotion.
"Izarra... no matter what you see you must not lose faith."
