The woods were smoky, the misty gauze blinding my vision yet I staggered onwards running through the trees even as they snagged at my beautiful, ivory dress.
Around me howls erupted through the air taunting me, I tried to ignore them but each one seemed to rip at my skin and I became unsure. My shallow breath filled my ears as silence fell, I paused not knowing where to turn.
I turned trying to find a clue, to find some place that would deliver me from the merciless forest. A wolf appeared in front of me, the black one from before.
I froze everything suspending as it looked at me, its brown eyes were filled with sorrow, tears dripping from them onto midnight fur. I moved towards it and the moment I reached it, it collapsed into my arms.
The smell of blood erupted and as I looked down at my dress I realised that my dress was no longer ivory but a bloody red. The blood soaked me erupting from the wolf but also from my own body, another howl burst through the air and in front of me stood a witch.
Red hair
White eyes
And a knife which headed straight for my heart…

“Izarra!”
I woke with a start, my hand going to my heart immediately. I closed my eyes slowly, calming down with the reassuring thumps of my heart. I looked up to see both Dale and Cara looking at me with worry.
“It was just a nightmare” I murmured wishing to reassure them
Dale stared at me wanting to say something but I shook my head. It seemed that the nightmares were back after so long…
I shook my head not wanting to dwell on the horrors of my mind, instead I stood smoothing out my dress and quickly checking that I had not ruined my hair during my fitful nap. I quickly glanced at my reflection in the wide mirror that stood proudly near the armoire. My hair had been wrapped into a beautiful chignon, with a middle parting that highlighted my eyes further. Even as I stared at it I was still taken away by the dress and the way it made me feel. It was as though Delia had sewn in confidence as she had made it.
“You look beautiful” Dale said standing behind me, he placed his hands on my shoulders sending tingles all over my body.
Cara ran forward wanting to be in the reflection too, I smiled the three of us all wore ivory making us look like a proper family. Cara’s hair had been tamed and fell in gentle, reeling curls to her back. She wore the cutest little ball gown with a ribbon that was studded with pearls. Dale wore a suit similar to the one Kai had worn but the only difference was that it was ivory in colour.
Cara cleared her throat
“So do you Cara?” Dale added quickly not wanting to get in trouble
Cara smiled triumphantly and I couldn’t help but laugh. All thoughts of the nightmare disappeared and were thrown into the dark corners of my mind to be looked at later. All three of us jumped at the sound of a bell marking midnight. Cara and I turned to look at the man that stood in between us, I lifted up Cara and allowed her to place a kiss on Dale’s cheek. I placed her down and then gave him a hug unable to bring myself to kiss him anywhere else but on his lips.
“Happy birthday” we cried
We were rewarded by Dale’s signature smile, which shone down on the two of us. He took both of us by the hand and then we walked out of the room ready to show our face. For the last hour or so I knew that everyone had been arriving, Dale thought we were having a formal dinner with the elders and the rest of the Alpha family when in reality we were throwing a full blown ball.
