It was horrific. A sight that would forever remain in the back of my mind for the rest of my life. It took everything to not cry, or puke at the sight of the massacred bodies. I watched as Tiras, Kione and Leon -the Lycan I had healed- searched through the mutilated for bodies.

As I sat on the floor, with Michal's head in my lap, the only comfort I had was that Kai wasn't there. I knew he wasn't amongst the bodies from the moment we had lay eyes on the piles of broken bodies. If he was amongst them I knew the emptiness Alora felt would have become a vacuum. That wasn't to say that Rickon, or Cullen wasn't amongst them.

The thought was hard to bare. Michal shuddered in my arms, he was no longer injured but his body kept spasm. He couldn't move his legs, I stroked his hair absent-mindedly, trying to comfort the both of us as I stared out blindly. I could smell his scent, it saturated the place unavoidable. What had once been a familiar fragrance of a cold winter breeze and a musk of pinewoods, had become a stench of cruelty, blood and an everlasting winter.

I could almost imagine him running around in a frenzy, with an army of his abominations, laughing with pride as he showed off his strength. I was too scared to move, I didn't want to see the faces of those who I had been laughing with just this afternoon, torn bodies, desecrated beyond recognition. I lost track of time but when Kione had finally settled down next to me, the moon had set and the sun was rising.

"Kai, Cullen, Rickon and four others are unaccounted for" Kione said with a small smile, I wanted to share her relief but was unable to, not when there was this much violence within a few feet of me. The blood. I was never going to be able to erase that smell from my nose, it would be there forever.

"There was also this"

She passed me a smooth letter, with the royal seal stamped onto it. The last letter I had received had lead to this devastation and so I opened it warily.

For each day, you delay,

another supporter shall surely pay

The best still last I shall save

Forcing him to become my slave

Unrecognisable he shall be

A cursed one just like me

I urge you to hurry and end this war

This whole affair is becoming a bore

Soon all will come to an end

You or me we shall pretend

But truthfully it is the wolf that will prevail

I scrunched up the paper and threw it as far as I possibly could. I could feel the blood rushing in a rage of emotions, none of them good and I screamed up at the sky in frustration. Every time I thought we were progressing there was something to stop us in our tracks. Kione lay a hand on my shoulder, trying to calm me but it was no use, the rage continued to build, whirling in the pit of stomach and ripping through me so hard it became difficult to breath.

Kione gently began to move Michal away, taking his head off of my lap and placing it in hers instead. She shuffled to the side, allowing me to get up. My eyes skimmed over the sight once again, the black hole in my heart suddenly became a gaping chasm.
